Thank you, Daily Journal, for amplifying the work we do right here in Franklin, Indiana to aid medicine development on a global scale, and for highlighting our newly launched LCM+ system, which is helping companies worldwide monitor critical reagents - vital components in determining safety and effectiveness in drug trials.

We appreciate all the positive feedback about our recently published paper about LCM+ in Bioanalysis. B2S partner and CSO Ron Bowsher said it best:

“It’s been met with astonishment. They can’t believe it. And what they really can’t believe is that this innovation is occurring in Franklin, Indiana. It’s not occurring on the East Coast or the West Coast, it’s here in Indiana.”

An emerging field of pharmaceuticals is showing success in eliminating cancers, solving neurological complexities and stopping the spread of infectious diseases.

B2S is proud to announce the official launch of our first-of-its-kind critical reagent management system, called LCM+. This system offers crucial and secure storage and inventory management to our clients across the globe. Read more in our recently published manuscript in Bioanalysis:

High-quality critical reagents are essential for the establishment of robust ligand binding assays to support regulated bioanalysis. To ensure consistency in assay performance over the lifetime of a project, a well-defined set of processes is needed for critical reagent life cycle management. Moreov...

Say hello to Tyler Ison, a Statistician at B2S, who is our Employee of the Month!

1. What do you love about your job at B2S?

I enjoy being a part of a company where I can learn from my colleagues and be encouraged to take on new and challenging opportunities that allow me to continue to grow in my career.

2. Tell us a little bit about your school and career path that led you here.

I graduated from Franklin College with a degree in general biology and minors in applied mathematics and quantitative methods. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do going forward until my advisor suggested a career in biostatistics. So, I decided to continue my education at IUPUI where I obtained my M.S. in biostatistics, and during the final year of my program I came onboard with the statistics team here at B2S.

3. What are 3 things we might not know about you?

-I am a wedding officiant, and on one occasion I wrote and performed a remix to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” at my sister’s wedding reception.
-I have two English bulldogs, Thor and Nevie.
-I learned how to play Cricket in Ireland.

4. What are you passionate about?

One thing I’m incredibly passionate about is coaching (baseball specifically). I love being able to work with the kids to develop their skills and potential. It’s such an exciting and fulfilling process when you can watch the kids you work with succeed from all the hard work and dedication that they put into mastering their craft.

5. Where is one place you'd like to travel?
Ireland. I studied abroad for a short period of time during my time at Franklin College and would love to go back.

Last week we hosted an onsite PK/ADME training course at B2S led by Dr. Richard Bergstrom and Dr. Ron Bowsher. Our employees attended multiple sessions over two days to learn more about a range of topics covering pharmacokinetics to assay development. We had a great time and all learned a thing or two!

Meet our Employee of the Month, Nick Frecker!

1. What do you love about your job at B2S?
I enjoy being able generate and analyze data that will eventually contribute to drug approvals for a variety of therapeutic areas. It is exciting to work not just on one focused area of disease control/prevention but to potentially contribute to any of them (diabetes, cancer, neurology, etc., etc.).

2. Tell us a little bit about your school and career path that led you here.
While I was employed full-time as a pharmacy technician in a mail-order oncology pharmacy, I worked on a professional science master’s in Biotechnology at IU in Bloomington. These experiences together taught me about drug development, regulatory approval, and the current state of medicine, particularly the oncology field. The career development portion of the master’s program gave tips on how to improve my resume, made me more confident in interviews, and connected me with recruiting agencies like Ascend Indiana. It Ascend that I connected with B2S. When on-campus research projects became more challenging to find, I found that B2S was hiring scientists in Assay Development and was willing to hire me even before I completed my degree.

3. What are 3 things we might not know about you?
- I can play the organ. Although I haven’t played for a while, I was music director and organist at my church for a few years.
- I have worked as a pharmacy technician for nearly 7 years, and I currently hold a pharmacy tech license.
- I have Greek heritage on my mother’s side of the family, and fairly recently I was told that we have some long-lost cousins back in Greece!

4. What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about American liberty and the constitutional systems that have been put in place to protect individual freedom. I want to help ensure that these freedoms are passed on to future generations of Americans.

5. Where is one place you'd like to travel?
I would like to travel to Rome. I have already been there once, but there is so much to see and so much history there, I would love to go back and explore more.
