Rising 8th-12th graders: want to code a real robot this summer? 🦾💻
Come see what 4H Alarm Robotics is all about! We are hosting a 2-part Summer Programming Series for students interested in trying out our team. It’s the perfect way to learn some real-world coding skills before the school year starts.
Part 1: Intro to Java ☕
📅 July 12 & 19 (10am-1pm)
Learn the basics of robot programming. No experience needed!
Part 2: XRP Robot Programming 🏎️
📅 Tuesdays in August (6pm-9pm)
Code a real, moving mini-robot using WPILib!
⚠️ ACTION REQUIRED: You'll need an XRP kit to participate. If you don’t have an XRP, we have them available! There is a $75 equipment charge and it’s yours to keep.
You’ll need a Windows or Mac laptop for these classes.

We had lots of fun leading the Microbit workshop at the 4H UMass Amherst Explore- Robotics track!

We had a chance to meet many bright youngsters who took to coding and tinkering easily. As the workshop progressed they were already trying out multiple variations of the code and messing around with the coding platform- which is exactly what we wanted! We got questions like- do we have another session? and do we get to keep the Microbit? This told us that the workshop was very well received!

A team of 6 alarm students together took charge of the curriculum and teaching and helping peers learn sensors and programming games on the board! This was actually our first time doing an in-depth workshop on Microbit for close to 2.5-3 hours, covering 7 guided projects. We are so proud of them!

We would like to thank the 4H team and especially Ms. Kim Ponds for getting the logistics for this workshop- the laminated sheets, laptops and extra microbits.

Our students had the red carpet rolled out for them with their stay in the dorm, the delicious food at the dining halls and the tour of the Digital Media Lab!
Huge thanks to Massachusetts 4-H Foundation!!!

Our team had a lot of fun competing at BattleCry 26. We were the 1st pick of Alliance 7 with 1058 PVC Pirates and Team 2168 Aluminum Falcons, and we had many new members try out various roles on the drive team.

The weekend ended on a high note; we were very happy to win the highest judged award - The Medal of Honor! Two years in a row! So proud of our team and the work we are doing in the community!

You can see the award announcement in the live stream video recording of the event below.
