ALARM is looking to rent a practice space for our next build season. You don't need to know much about real estate to know that it is very expensive to rent an industrial space to outfit a full-size or 3/4 size FRC field. After an extensive search and requesting several places to rent to a nonprofit STEM education club like us, we have found our dream space. But it is out of our reach at the moment. We need your help in making this dream a reality. Please help our team get a practice space!
ALARM Robotics 2079 is a non-profit community robotics team; we have been around for 20 years! Our one and only goal is to be a place where any high schooler can learn robotics and compete in FRC. We welcome students from 15 towns in MA and RI, many of whom don't have access to robotics in their towns or schools. We also bring STEM outreach to 25 towns around us for middle schoolers, most of it at no cost.
We are 100% volunteer-run, and all our mentors volunteer their knowledge, expertise, and time to teach students. Last year alone, the kids and the mentors put in over 400 hours through the build season.
We work with the express goal of building technology and building skills in our students- be it CAD with Onshape, programming with Java in WPIlib, learning electrical by wiring the robot, and mechanical skills by learning power tools and machines like CNC, lathe and mill.
In 2025, Rebuild season was our most successful to date, where our team went from 80th to 11th percentile, becoming alliance captain for 3 straight events; we won our 1st Impact Award and our 1st robot award, and a First Leadership Award.
Many of these achievements sound cool when you put them in a sentence, but in reality, it came together because of a lot of effort and many, many tiny improvements that happened on our practice field, many hours our team put in to get better, and a supportive team of mentors and, of course, our parents!
We really needed this practice space to run our robot multiple times and have it fail on the home field till the kids could figure out the fixes. We get better incrementally because we can fail safely on the home field.
