WEIGL IRON WORKS is an architectural design + ornamental steel company, creating hand forged details & manufactured pieces for purchase & by commission, as well as providing residential permit dwgs, renovation, design, & construction services. The Weigl's have been known for their historic ironwork in Austin & throughout Texas since 1922, after emigrating to the City of the Violet Crown from Bavar

ia, Germany in 1913, and this year we are celebrating 91 years of our family craft. Weigl Iron + Fabrication is the modern partnership of Thomas Weigl, who is trained in the traditional family style of ironworking, along with his daughter Bethany, who has been working as an architectural project manager in prestigious design firms in Austin.

We're being asked to recreate this historical gate, which has gone missing from Mayfield Park... Sadly, I can't see much detail about it. I will reach out to our family Historian, Dr. Fritz Weigl, to see if we can find any information on it. And I'll plan a site visit to check out the other Weigl Iron Gates still on site (there are 3 others)

My desk looks like my Grandfather's & Great Grandfather's might have... except for the laptop... I'm heading out to an interview in my nice little dress shirt, & I'm realizing my elbows remind me of his, too... all threadbare & dirty, ripped out from leaning on the desk, and my fingerprints are a sweaty paste of steel dust (and I likely have a sooty little black mustache from accidentally touching my face)....
