Did you know....

Zenith purchased the T-33A Shooting Star in October 2013 from Mr. Merle Maine residing in Ontario, Oregon. Mr. Maine, now deceased, was a Marine pilot who flew in combat for the US Marine Corp. Shortly after we took delivery of the T-33, we had it trailered to our good friends at Bugsy’s Auto and they brought her back to life with her current paint scheme. The engine of the aircraft was also cleaned up and rotates between being on display in our lobby and the warehouse.

Meet the powerhouses behind Zenith Aviation!

Bob Stanford, owner and CEO.

Bob attended Dutchess County Community College of New York and the US Army Aviation School, subsequently graduating with a curriculum that included advanced flight and instructor schools, as well as numerous courses in aviation safety, flight operations, finance and leasing, time-share, and aviation maintenance programs. As a professional pilot, Bob has been trained on more than 50 different models of fixed and rotary-wing, turbine-powered aircraft. He earned an Instructor’s rating for basic, recurrent, type rating, instrument, and rotorcraft to fixed-wing transition training. Bob has a long and successful career in the aviation industry starting in 1969 as a Vietnam Helicopter Pilot and then for the U.S. National Guard. In 1977, during the first phase of his transition to a civilian aviation career, he flew for Petroleum Helicopters. Moving to the Gates Learjet/Bombardier Aircraft Corporation in 1982, Bob was named District Sales Manager. He founded Stanford & Associates and served as President of the organization in 1995. He subsequently joined Executive Aircraft Corporation in 2001, and was appointed as their Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In 2002, Bob formed Zenith Aviation and, through the years, overcame many obstacles to become a global leader in the supply of spare parts for and service of the Dornier 328 aircraft. Not one to rest on his laurels, Bob has seen tremendous growth in his core business, but has worked tirelessly to add capabilities to support several other aircraft flown in the Regional Airline industry. After more than 30 years in the aviation industry, Bob is one of the world’s most respected authorities in several aviation disciplines. He is renowned for his seasoned expertise in aircraft sales, acquisitions, aviation financial analysis, tax implications, aircraft valuations, maintenance management, operational procedures, planning, and market forecasting.

Angela Shawaryn, President.

Angela began her career in aviation in 1997 as a receptionist for Stanford & Associates. She was quickly promoted to increasingly more responsible positions as she demonstrated her business prowess and competence. In 1998 Angela took on direct responsibility for Human Resources, managing all company insurance and retirement plans. By early 2001, she was responsible for the Marketing and IT functions as well. Soon after, in 2002, Angela played a critical role by overseeing the transition from Stanford & Associates to Zenith Aviation, Inc. As the company grew, so did Angela’s business knowledge and experience. In addition to becoming a top-performing sales associate, by 2004 Angela had added corporate travel and Aircraft Market Valuations and Appraisals to her already full schedule. In 2006, Angela assumed oversight responsibility for the Bookkeeping Department, and by 2008 she was also providing oversight and direction for the Warehouse personnel. In 2008, when Zenith earned their Quality Management System certification, Angela trained for and became an Internal Auditor and assumed the role of Quality Assurance Director for the company. Then in 2010, Angela became head of the Purchasing Department. In 2011, having either worked in or been responsible for every department within the company, Mr. Stanford promoted Angela to General Manager of Zenith Aviation. Angela additionally holds responsibility as a Corporate Officer and Board President. Angela was again promoted to President of Zenith Aviation in 2017. Angela is a Certified QMS Lead Auditor. She has attended classes at Germanna Community College, Strayer University, and earned a Financial Accounting certificate from Harvard Business School Online.

Happy National Aviation Day! 🛩

What is National Aviation Day you ask? In 1939 President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed August 19 to be National Aviation Day. The day coincides with the birthday of Orville Wright, who piloted the Wright Flyer. He and his brother Wilbur are given credit for building the world’s first successful airplane with aircraft controls that enabled them to steer the plane. Orville Wright made the first flight for 12 seconds and 120 feet around the site of Wright Brothers National Memorial on December 17, 1903. They were not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft but they are the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed wing flight possible. The Wright brothers' status as inventors of the airplane has been an issue of debate, particularly as there were competing claims regarding other early aviators.
