FAQ: Can I change my mind during the home building process?
Absolutely! Building a custom home is an exciting journey, and it's not uncommon for homeowners to think of new ideas or decide they'd like to make a few changes along the way.
If you'd like to make a change, the first step is simply letting your Sales Manager know. We'll review your request, determine what's involved, and provide pricing if the change affects your home's cost. From there, we'll prepare a formal change order outlining the requested changes, any associated costs, and obtain signatures from everyone involved before moving forward. Once everything is approved (and payment is received, if applicable), we'll get the process underway.
Some of the most common changes homeowners make include:
🏠 Upgrading flooring, lighting, or plumbing fixtures
🍳 Changing appliances or cabinetry selections
🪟 Adding or removing windows
🌳 Adding a deck—or changing the size or material after seeing the plans come together
So, how late can you make changes?
The best time is before your pre-construction meeting. While some changes may still be possible afterward, making decisions early helps avoid construction delays, additional costs, and scheduling challenges. The sooner we know, the smoother the process will be.
As for cost, every change is different. Some adjustments are relatively minor, while others may affect materials, labor, or your construction timeline. We'll always discuss those details with you before any work moves forward, so you can make an informed decision.
