As we continue highlighting meaningful ways to give back this Christmas, EMR wants to share the incredible story behind The Journey, a ministry birthed from obedience and faith.

In 2013, EMR’s own Al Terry, and his family, relinquished all their possessions, packed only a few suitcases, and moved to Nakuru, Kenya. Leaving behind the comfort of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, they stepped into a call from God that neither Al nor Missy had previous experience in. In fact, Al had never even been on a mission trip. But the call was unmistakable, and saying “no” wasn’t an option.

From that leap of faith, Hakima Ministries was born - rooted in a deep love for Jesus and a commitment to walk wherever He leads. Today, Hakima Ministries is registered both as a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States and an incorporated ministry in Kenya. More than a decade of living and serving in Kenya has prepared the Terrys for the next phase of their mission: The Journey.

Their heart is simple yet profound:
“We invite you to join us on this journey of placing vulnerable children into Christian homes. We pray that your support for Hakima Ministries will persist through The Journey. If you are a new partner, we eagerly anticipate witnessing how God will use your faith in this fresh season. Whenever you assist and nurture orphans, you are engaging in the Lord’s work.”

In the spirit of giving back this holiday season, EMR is honored to spotlight organizations making a profound impact around the world.

First up: One Fire Global

In July 2023, the Ned Maraman family was led by the Lord to embark on a ten-year Kingdom mission to Parys, South Africa. After much prayer and confirmation from their leaders, Bishops Tom and Jane Hamon, they knew this call was from God and said a wholehearted “YES!”

“Our vision is to make disciples, ignite revival, and see the Kingdom of God transform lives across Africa and beyond. To start we will serve as lead pastors of Overcomers Tabernacle in Parys, South Africa, a ministry and missions hub that serves the needs of the most vulnerable in the region providing hope, material assistance, and transformational ministry that impacts generations.
Since launching into full-time ministry, we’ve traveled nationally and internationally preaching the Gospel, equipping the Christians to lead lives that bear witness to Christ. In 2015, we planted Vision Church Fort Walton Beach, known for its prophetic ministry, healing, and strong biblical teaching.
We, Ned and Laci Maraman, along with our seven amazing children, are joyfully stepping into this next chapter to see Jesus exalted, lives changed, and nations discipled.
We invite you to help us fulfill this mission and support us as we take the good news of Christ to one of the most challenging places in the world.”

One of our foursomes took home FIRST place at the Auburn University McWhorter School of Building Science Golf Tournament, hosted by the Iota Chapter of Sigma Lambda Chi.

It was a perfect day to tee off at Robert Trent Jones in Opelika—with some special appearances! 🐅 🦅

We always look forward to this annual event and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with BSCI students.
