✅ Ryan “Go Irish” Snyder has been promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing, effective immediately. Ryan has been with Tri Star Metals for 13 years and brings more than 30 years of wire drawing and manufacturing leadership experience. He leads with integrity and grit and has an unwavering commitment to the team on the floor in Freeport.

✅ Russ “Go Navy” Davis has been promoted to Vice President of Plant Maintenance and Engineering. Russell Davis began his career in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Submarine Program and over the past 11 years at TSM has delivered exceptional results through talent, creativity, and ex*****on. His positive energy and integrity make him a tremendous leader.

Together with Matthew Perry Perry, this team forms the leadership core driving the next phase of growth and continuous improvement at our Freeport Mill. We have big plans ahead—and the right team in place to execute them.

Last week, Tri Star Metals had the honor of celebrating 40 years in business with a wonderful anniversary party in Freeport, IL. 🎉

We were thrilled to gather with current and former employees—along with a handful of our valued customers and suppliers—who have each played a role in building our company’s history and shaping our future.

As part of the celebration, we proudly donated $40,000 to the State Bank Foundation, continuing our commitment to supporting the Freeport community that has supported us for decades.

Last, but far from least, we welcome Jake Ettelbrick as our newest Defense Market Specialist. Urgent Trade Update - Impact of New 232 Tariffs

We want to take a moment to address the significant and sudden changes surrounding Section 232 tariffs, which have understandably caused concern across the industry—including at Tri Star/Siri.
Effective June 4, 2025, the U.S. government doubled Section 232 tariffs to 50% on all imported steel and aluminum products—regardless of country of origin. Notably, there are no exemptions for materials currently in transit, including those already on the water. This unexpected implementation is causing major disruption to pricing and supply dynamics.

We are doing everything within our power to provide as much price stability as possible. However, given the magnitude and immediacy of this policy shift, we want to be transparent—you should anticipate
accelerated price increases on affected products in the weeks ahead.

Here’s a summary of the current trade environment based on guidance from our trade attorneys, industry associations, and brokerage contacts.

Section 232 Tariffs – Now 50%
Effective June 4, 2025
· Applies to all imported steel and aluminum (e.g., SS Bar, SS Wire, Aluminum Bar)
· Active exclusions still apply. In those cases, only the reciprocal tariff is due (currently ~10%)
· Without an exclusion, the full 50% tariff applies

Examples:
· SS Wire Rod from Taiwan – 50%
· SS Wire from India – 50%
· A286 from EU bloc – 50%
· Aluminum Bar from EU bloc – 50%
Section 301 Tariffs – 25% (China Only)
· In effect and stacked on top of Section 232
· Applies to all steel and aluminum from China

Special Tariffs (Fentanyl-related) – 20% (China Only)
· Also in effect and stacked on top of both 232 and 301
· Applies to all steel and aluminum from China

Example Total for China:
· SS Wire Rod from China = 95% total tariff (50% + 25% + 20%)

Exclusions – Critical Notes
· Existing exclusions are still honored and provide significant relief
· New exclusions are no longer being granted
· Once current exclusions expire or are exhausted, full 50% tariffs apply
· When using an exclusion, a reciprocal tariff is charged—currently 10%, but many will increase on July 9, 2025

Examples:
· SS Wire Rod from Taiwan with active exclusion: 10% until 7/9/25, possibly 32% thereafter
SS Wire Rod from Taiwan with no exclusion: 50%
· 718 from EU bloc with exclusion: 10% until 7/9/25, possibly 20% after. Reciprocal tariff rates are still under negotiation and subject to change based on trade talks between the U.S. and each country or bloc. We are monitoring these developments closely and will continue to provide timely updates. IEEPA Tariffs Legal Update – Key Points

1. Tariffs Remain in Effect (For Now)
Despite the Court of International Trade’s (CIT) May 28 opinion declaring the tariffs unlawful, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) has issued a temporary stay. This means U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will continue collecting duties under the April 2 executive orders.

2. Decision Is Not Final
The CAFC’s stay is procedural and not a ruling on the merits. It simply preserves the status quo until further review.

3. Jurisdictional Conflict
There’s a legal standoff between two federal courts—CIT and a U.S. District Court—each claiming authority over the case. Which court ultimately has jurisdiction could significantly shape the final outcome.

4. Next Milestone: June 5 Hearing
Expect possible updates or changes after the upcoming court session. Until then, all import procedures should proceed as usual with applicable tariffs.

Tri Star Metals Signs Letter of Intent to Acquire Siri Wire

Freeport, Illinois – April 15, 2025 – Tri Star Metals, LLC, a leading U.S.-based stainless and nickel alloy mill and distributor, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Siri Wire. Based in Danielson, Connecticut, Siri Wire is a well-established regional stainless and nickel alloy re-draw mill with strong distribution capabilities.

Under the terms of this agreement, Siri Wire will continue to operate as an independent mill and distributor, led by Bryan and David Hitchcock. Bryan Hitchcock will remain President of Siri Wire and will also join the Tri Star Metals Executive Committee.
