6 years in business. What have I learned? Well, there's a big gap in renewable energy education for high schools and adult learning. The industry is thriving in places along West Virginia's border because they have better access to a trained workforce. I've told the Dept of Education about this and tried to coordinate something but havent had any luck.
The cost to train workers from scratch and the lack of workforce is an expense that I'm no longer willing to make. So, DT Solar will no longer be installing large scale solar projects.
Instead, I've opted to be a specialist for the industry in West Virginia. Hybrid and off grid systems have always been my passion. There are also long waits for troubleshooting solar systems that have issues. So I will act as a fixer for those situations. Maybe even take on a few electrical projects.
One thing I would really like is to setup a photovoltaics certification program approved by NABCEP. Again it requires work with the Dept. Of Education. Any advocates or friends of solar energy should definitely email myself your contact information if youd like to help with that battle. I feel that if wnough people start complaining then something will be done.
If you have a solar question or want to help my email is [email protected] and my cell phone is 304-406-8181
You can also use my solar calculator at www.dtsolarllc.com if youd like a rough estimate without talking to someone.
