This boat cracked from doing loops and smacking the bottom. A small chip came out and the crack spread rapidly. I was very happy with my weld, but I felt that a patch would ensure the boat a much longer life. Rather than doing a boring square patch, I got creative and made a lighting bolt. I think I will be doing more custom shape patches in the future.

This boat came to me hot off a Deckers lap. S**t was running, so it went straight to the operating table. Its back on the water, Deckers and Blackwater tested. S**t runner approved.

This Lettmann ran a drop solo, busted off its handle, and really smashed in the bow. I was able to get the bow mostly back to its original shape, but because of the "light" layup, the material was extremely weak. I welded numerous plates to the front, welded all those together, then smoothed everything out. I replaced the grab handle with a piece of doubled up tubular webbing and a stainless steel bolt. Overall this thing is stout, and will be more than suitable for whitewater glory. Another boat risen from the grave!

Did this repair as a donation to TRR. I like to give back, even if it is in a small way. The seat bolts had cracked, and the previous weld wasn't terrible, but I decided to reweld the whole area and add in some plastic plates for extra security. The plates were heated up and melted into the area of the bolts, to increase the rigidity of the area, and protect it from cracking again. Overall, better than new!

Cracks on the cockpit rim require special attention, but this one is as good a new!

I always try to match color and make of plastic. It creates welds that bond better and makes it so that sometimes you can't even tell it was repaired. I got a plastic guy, and I have many different colors and makes.
