This , we're spotlighting AI-powered simulation technology in nursing education at the University of Florida 🤖

Dr. Michael Bumbach, clinical associate professor at the UF College of Nursing , shares how Clinicals, an app bringing artificial intelligence into nursing education, gives students a "simulation lab in your pocket," allowing them to practice clinical skills and patient interactions anytime, anywhere.

Students can use these digital tools to practice scenarios they might not otherwise encounter in the hospital or clinic, helping them build clinical competencies in a safe learning environment. The goal is to prepare students to provide better patient care and ultimately improve health outcomes.

This , we're spotlighting research at the University of Florida focused on mosquito-borne diseases and new approaches to preventing viral disease transmission! 🦟

Led by Thomas Bannister, Ph.D., a research professor at The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology, the research focuses on viral diseases such as Zika and how to prevent viral disease transmission.

By studying how viruses replicate, his lab is exploring ways to stop the viral machinery that allows them to multiply from one virus particle to hundreds of millions. The goal is to stop the spread of infection, alleviate symptoms, and reduce the risk of severe and lasting health consequences.

This , we're spotlighting Authentically, an AI-powered program designed to help journalists identify unintended bias in their writing. 📰

Developed by the Consortium on Trust in Media and Technology at the UF College of Journalism and Communications, Authentically uses computational linguistics to identify language that may be particularly emotional or potentially biased.

As University of Florida's Janet Coats explains, the goal isn't for AI to decide what is or isn't biased. Instead, Authentically gives journalists another way to examine their language choices and consider how audiences may perceive their stories.

This , we're spotlighting how researchers at The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology are developing drugs to target and combat inflammatory diseases! 🔬

Dr. Joe "Skip" Garcia shares insight into the groundbreaking work at the Center for Inflammation Science and Systems Medicine (CISSM) to combat vexing inflammatory diseases, ranging from autoimmune conditions and organ fibrosis to prostate and lung cancer, as well as respiratory illnesses in premature babies. 🩺

Researchers are developing small molecule inhibitors and a monoclonal antibody called ALT-100, which has shown strong potential in reducing inflammation and fibrosis. This therapy aims to treat both adults with severe inflammatory illnesses in the ICU and premature infants in the neonatal ICU facing respiratory distress syndrome. 🧫
