Name a Cell is normally $50. At this table only, it’s $20 — and that gets you an exclusive Solar Gators Name a Cell sticker plus a complimentary lemonade or cold brew from Brewing Thoughts.

Your name goes on Flare, our solar car, and she rides in the Homecoming parade on Friday the 9th. After 1,408 miles, that’s her last drive before we retire her.

Name a Cell is back for its second year — and this time it’s a little different. 🌞
On October 9th, Flare rolls through the UF Homecoming parade as its last drive before we retire this vehicle and bring a brand new car to life.
Flare runs entirely on sunlight,, powered by an array of 386 solar cells, and every one of those cells is up for grabs for you to travel with us as we take our fourth vehicle for its last lap!
Claim a cell and it’s yours to fill. Your name, your family’s name, your business, a shoutout, whatever you want the crowd to see. It gets displayed on the array and rides the full parade route up NW 13th Street and across University Ave right alongside our team.
Every $50 cell donation goes straight to the team. Your support helps to pay for the parts we design with, the tools we build with, and the travel it takes to get the car and our team to competition to represent what Gator engineers can do.
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department here at the University of Florida will also be matching the first $4,000 of donations as we work towards our goal of $15,000 this Fall to put towards the building of a brand new solar powered race car to be revealed at the end of the school year!
883 miles down, one parade to go. We’d love to have your name riding with us!

From Minneapolis, Minnesota to Amarillo, Texas, Flare completed her final journey as part of the 2026 American Solar Challenge, driving 579.7 miles along the route. Although this wasn’t the performance we aimed for, this team’s love of the game kept us going through even the toughest moments. Perseverance is this team’s strength, and it all came together on the final day with us completing the full Stage 4 route reaching a top speed of 64 mph.
