Locklear & Associates is proud to congratulate Dixie County on being awarded a $75,000 Community Planning Technical Assistance (CPTA) Grant through FloridaCommerce.

This funding will allow Dixie County to digitize decades of important records and develop a searchable electronic filing system an investment that will improve efficiency and communication between County departments while helping ensure the long-term security and accessibility of critical public records.

Team Locklear was proud to prepare the successful grant application on behalf of Dixie County and to join County and State leaders at Governor Ron DeSantis’ August 27 announcement celebrating investments in Florida’s rural communities.

The CPTA Grant Program provides important resources to rural communities and Rural Areas of Opportunity throughout Florida, helping local governments improve planning, strengthen their communities, promote economic development, and prepare for the future.

Regional Communities Receive $227,698.13 in RIVER Program Funding

Locklear & Associates is pleased to recognize the recent award of $227,698.13 through the Suwannee River Water Management District’s RIVER Program. The investments will support critical infrastructure and environmental improvement throughout the region. The focus on water quality, wastewater improvements, stormwater management, and protection of natural resources.

The funded projects include:

Dixie County — $17,698.13
Wastewater Treatment Facility Digital Upgrade
Support upgrades to improve effluent quality monitoring and assist with regulatory compliance.

Suwannee County — $60,000
Wastewater Treatment Plant Design & Engineering
Support design and engineering efforts for wastewater system improvements and nutrient reductions in coordination with the Town of Branford.

Lafayette County — $60,000
Clyde Street Stormwater Pond Improvements
Support improvements to the stormwater management system, increasing capacity, and enhancing drainage in cooperation with the Town of Mayo.

Gilchrist County — $90,000
Hart Springs Ditch Swale Project
Support the design, permitting, and construction of green infrastructure improvements intended to help protect the water quality and natural resources surrounding Hart Springs.

Total Funding Awarded: $227,698.13

The Florida League of Cities Public Service Pathways Scholarship Is Now Open

The Florida League of Cities is committed to supporting the next generation of civic leaders. This year, FLC is offering up to five $5,000 scholarships for students pursuing meaningful careers in public service and municipal government. The Public Service Pathways Scholarship is designed for Florida students who are ready to help shape stronger, more resilient communities through public sector work.

Eligibility Requirements: • Must be a Florida resident • Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program through a Florida based campus (including online) • Must maintain enrollment through Fall 2026
