ANNNND WERE OFF!!!
Galena Repair & Maintenance has broken ground on the 5,000 sq. ft. Daycare Center on Shimer Square in Mt. Carroll!!

We are excited for everyone involved on this project, but most excited for the beautiful town of Mt. Carroll.

This Early Childhood Development Center will greatly benefit the town in boosting local commerce, providing many jobs, allowing for children to be cared for in a safe enviornment at an affordable price, in addition to so much more!!

I encourage everyone to view the link below to learn more about this particular phase of the project, in addition to the overall vision for the total renovation of this beautiful and historic college campus.

We are honored to have been asked by The Economic Growth Corporation
to play a role in this renovation.

SHIMER SQUARE:

We're happy to share that construction is progressing smoothly. This week, Growth General Contracting, LLC completed site work, grading, and poured foundation and walls. The building pad and parking area are prepped with over 90,000 tons of rock ready. Next week we’ll begin underground electrical and plumbing installations. Walls and trusses will rise after. We've had great weather and hope it continues before winter sets in.

As a reminder, we know how important the trees are and we remain committed to preserving as many as possible. Unfortunately, some of the trees that appear healthy were rotted inside and posed a safety risk. Removing them was necessary to protect both the community and the future of Shimer Square. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize both safety and preservation.

New Build Foundation - POURED!!

Construction has officially began at Economic Growth Corporation's Shimer Square! Work includes general renovations to the Sawyer House, parking lot and sidewalk replacements, masonry repairs to the main entrance gate, asbestos removal, and interior
building demolition within Bennet and Hathaway Halls.
Cindy Berg, CFO along with Andrew Fisher, Construction Director for GROWTH and Growth General Contracting, LLC played a vital role throughout to get us to this point.
On August 21st, Galena Repair and Maintenance’s subcontractor, Renaissance Restoration, will begin masonry repairs followed by Elevated Roofing starting roof replacement work on August 28th. IITI Group will begin abatement work inside the Sawyer House and once completed, Galena Repair and Maintenance will begin the full-scale renovation work.
Work is made possible through the $1.5 million Rebuild Illinois grant, where Economic Growth Corporation was one of 11 awardees in the state to be awarded funding through the competitive Regional Economic Development (RIRED) component of the grant. A public bidding process was published in May 2023 where potential bidders were invited to submit proposals. Bidders were required to meet certain requirements set forth by Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity within Rebuild IL grant parameters to be considered. After receiving approval by the IL DCEO in late July, GROWTH signed contracts with Galena Repair and Maintenance and IITI Group.
“This is truly a momentous milestone for Shimer Square ensuring its credible and sustainable future,” said Brian Hollenback. “In July, I let the community know work would start “30 and 3”, what can be seen today can be expected for the next three years.”

Think you "JUST" have a few woodpecker holes?
These photos are of what we find the majority of the time, when we inspect woodpecker holes.

Just patching woodpecker holes DOES NOT (aleays) SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Often times, the woodpeckers return and create more holes because they are attracted to what is behind the siding: BUGS, CARPENTER ANTS, AND ROT.
