"Customer service. Fairness. Treating people right. All good, however rare, things that all businesses should strive for. Elite Welding nailed all three effortlessly.
My pontoon boat appeared to have a leaking pontoon. It was squatting unnaturally to the right rear side (starboard stern side for you real boaters). Sealed pontoons are pretty important to the safe, efficient, and enjoyable operation of the aforementioned boat.
Since I'm not a boat mechanic, troubleshooter, and most of all not a welder, I contacted the nice folks at Elite. I explained the problem and they said come on over, and bring the boat with you. I got there before the weekend so they had me back the boat (nervewrackingly) into their garage so it was nice and protected over the weekend.
Monday the phone rang early with the news that no leak was found. They pressure tested each log (me trying to sound like a real boater again) and there was no pressure drop at all. I suggested they bang along the tubes with a rubber mallet to hear for a different sound (water vs no water) because the all-knowing Google said so. Wouldn't you know it, Elite knew about that and it was part of their diagnostic procedure.
Ok, great, all good, come pick up your boat. I show up, the boat was right where I left it right behind the scissor gate. I went to the office and they knew who I was, but I felt compelled to tell them I was there for my boat. The young lady said she would get the gate open and I could boat off into the sunset (or something like that).
I asked what the bill was and the young lady looked at me for a few seconds, and checked with a young man in the office. He said nothing, no bill, and they didn't find anything wrong. Confused, perplexed, flummoxed, and amazed, I asked again and nearly tried to talk them in to charging me something. They assured me everything was good and I thanked them.
All of my mindless rambling brings me around to the point of this review. It is extremely uncommon to find a business that doesn't charge a minimum for just walking through the door, and I totally understand. The electric, water, gas, and garbage removal don't pay for themselves. I also truly appreciate the fact the Elite evaluates each job on a case-by-case basis and extends courtesy where they are able.
Well done everyone, and I highly recommend Elite Welding to anyone that has a piece they need made, a tough problem solved, or a pontoon boat that actually leaks. Thank you all again for being wonderful humans!"
