๐ช The Three Oaks Doors | Part 1
Some homes deserve more than an off-the-shelf door.
The 207 East Beach Street project in Three Oaks, Michigan is one of those homes.
Could we have ordered a standard door? Of course.
But that's not who we are.
We're constantly learning, investing in better equipment, refining our techniques, and raising the barโnot because it's the easiest path, but because we believe craftsmanship still matters.
For this project, we built 2ยผ-inch-thick custom walnut doors.
These aren't your typical veneer doors. Instead of a paper-thin veneer that can never be refinished, we use a ยผ-inch walnut veneer over an engineered stave core. That combination gives us the warmth and beauty of solid walnut with the long-term stability today's homes demand.
To bring it all together, we combined traditional loose mortise-and-tenon joinery, modern adhesives, and precision machining to create a door built to last for generations.
The extra thickness isn't just for appearance.
It's what allows us to build a stronger, more stable core that resists seasonal movement while giving the door the substantial feel that only quality craftsmanship can provide.
One of our favorite moments hasn't happened yet.
It's the first time someone reaches for that handle, swings the door open, and hears that satisfying "click" as the latch settles perfectly into place.
That's the feeling we build for.
Not trends.
Not shortcuts.
Craftsmanship that will still be appreciated decades from now.
Because raising the bar isn't something we say...
It's something we build.
