Ted’s path was shaped by being Southland’s very first intern — a title which he reminisces upon fondly to this day, as a major supporter of the Early Career experiences and opportunities here at Southland.

Our work on data centers highlights our speed-to-market capabilities and our ability to integrate the latest technologies and architecture into these facilities to maximize sustainability, scalability, and reliability.

For our work on the Vantage AZ1 data center, we are providing design-build mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection services for this campus that spans over one million square feet. To support the facility's cooling demands, we installed over 20 miles of piping, enabling a total cooling capacity of over 96,000 tons.

As of early 2025, our jobsite prioritization has led to a remarkable safety milestone of logging 2 million hours without a recordable incident, despite 213 days over 100°F. Read more here: https://ow.ly/9SQp50ZazUZ

Our work in the healthcare market demonstrates our ability to create state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to support the well-being of patients and providers.

For the newly renovated SAC Health – Brier Campus, we were responsible for the design, coordination, fabrication, and installation of the HVAC wet and dry systems, as well as the plumbing systems, for this new medical facility. Since each floor had little loading space and onsite storage was tight, prefabrication was planned down to the inch, with duct and pipe spools arriving just in time for installation.

First joining Southland as an intern, Jim has more than 23 years of experience and has served as Southland’s Chief Operating Officer since 2024. Jim will succeed Ted Lynch, Chief Executive Officer, on October 1, 2026.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Jim over many years and have seen how he leads, thinks, and brings people together,” said CEO Ted Lynch. “I’m confident in where Jim is going to take Southland in the future.”

We had the incredible opportunity to attend the 15th annual Habitat for Humanity Raise the Roof Gala back in March, which raises money to support Loudoun Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building homes, hope, and communities. We were recognized with the honor of serving as Loudoun Habitat for Humanity’s Carter Legacy Sponsor. Our support helps build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership in Loudoun County.
We were glad to support this mission to ensure that these families have a safe place to call home. 🏠

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐜 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚
Back in October, we rolled up our sleeves to partner up with Roc Solid, a nationwide nonprofit that is dedicated to build hope for children and families that are fighting cancer. We were able to construct two backyard playsets for pediatric patients affiliated with UC Davis and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

We loved being able to surprise two children who had recently completed leukemia treatment with playsets and create spaces for healing, laughter, and simply being a kid again. 🤸

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬.🏥

Projected to open in 2031, this new pediatric campus in North Texas will feature three towers, including two 12-story towers and one eight-story tower. The new hospital will house 552 beds, increasing inpatient capacity by 38%. Our scope includes the mechanical ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing systems for this state-of-the-art healthcare facility, along with design-assist for piping expansion loops, structural supports, and thermal expansion solutions to help coordinate practical and efficient system solutions throughout the project.

We’re excited to be a part of the construction of one of the most transformative pediatric hospitals in the nation that will foster innovation, academic research, training, and lifesaving technologies. Notably, this hospital will be designed to meet the healthcare needs of the growing North Texas population, where the pediatric population is expected to double by 2050.

Our strong relationship with TCU – Texas Christian University has lasted over the course of 30 years and includes a long-standing service contract.

As a result of this relationship, we’ve undertaken an over five-million-dollar contract to replace 129 pieces of equipment across four residence halls while students are away during the summertime. This project holds significance as one of the largest special projects undertaken on the university’s campus. Our project scope consists of the removal and replacement of mechanical equipment, requiring careful field modifications to existing ductwork and piping systems to accommodate new units while maintaining system integrity.

After the first phase of the project was delivered on schedule with a high level of craftsmanship demonstrated, we’re moving forward with the second phase of the HVAC replacements which includes work on three additional buildings.

In the region’s sports and entertainment market, we’re leveraging our experience to complete a project scope that includes HVAC sheet metal, piping, plumbing, and controls for the Pepperdine University Athletic and Wellness Facilities in Malibu, California, which spans across a new 133,000 square-foot arena, 27,500 square-foot athletic center, and 45,000-square-foot wellness and fitness center.

Located on a complex college campus with existing structures, our work will take place outside of the standard operating area on site. This demonstrates our ability to plan ahead, adapt in the field, and deliver mechanical work without disrupting daily operations.

Additionally, this project was awarded to us based on our competitive scope, price negotiations, and innovative solutions, deepening a preexisting client relationship.
