A new roll-up door can make a major difference in the functionality of a loading dock—but modifying an existing structural wall requires the right engineering behind it.

For this project, Chief Engineering evaluated existing conditions and designed the steel framing needed to safely create a new opening in an existing CMU wall.

Please join us in welcoming Thomas Archer to Chief Engineering!

Thomas recently graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and joins the Chief team as a Mechanical Designer.

During his internships with Parker Hannifin, Master-Bilt Refrigeration, and Signify, Thomas gained experience across different areas of engineering and is ready to continue building his skills in industrial engineering and design at Chief.

His career goal? Becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

Outside of work, Thomas enjoys watching movies, and he’s also a proud cat dad. 🐈

A Memphis facility was looking to improve their line process by addressing reliability and scrap issues while creating better access for maintenance and sanitation.

Chief Engineering provided 3D scanning, structural engineering, modeling, foundation design, and GMP-compliant platform design to support the new process layout.

The result is a coordinated, construction-ready design built around better access, improved functionality, and the needs of the people operating and maintaining the line.

Please join us in welcoming Maggie Close to Chief Engineering!

Maggie graduated from the University of Mississippi last May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and brings hands-on experience from internships and academic engineering projects.

During her internship at Kimley-Horn, Maggie supported utility design, civil site development, and natural gas infrastructure projects. Now, she’s excited to grow her knowledge of industrial plant design, 3D scanning, and engineering consulting while learning from Chief’s experienced engineering team.

Outside of the office, Maggie enjoys running, playing pickleball, and spending time with family and friends. And with football season here, she’s looking forward to cheering on the Ole Miss Rebs! 🏈
