Adam’s long been a hard worker who knows how to get things done with multiple customer-facing roles in hospitality, retail and delivery, but none of them were a good fit. So when the head of our Wastewater Systems team convinced him to join VanAire and give precision manufacturing a shot, he accepted the challenge head on.

In his first week, Adam was bending steel on a 130-ton brake press. Soon after, he was running a CNC laser cutting table – a machine that makes precise cuts in inch-thick sheets of steel to create parts for our Engineered Valve Automation Hardware product line.

When asked about working at VanAire for the past three years he comments “in my past jobs I was just a number but here I have a name, a team that cares about me and an open-door policy to leadership.”

So, think of Adam when you think of VanAire. It’s because of dedicated team members like him that we consistently lead the pack in Engineered Valve Automation Hardware and Wastewater Systems.

“Do you like science?” That was Chris Fabbri’s first question to a group of seventh graders at Mind Trekkers yesterday. The response? So many kids said, “It’s my favorite class!” How awesome is that?!

Chris Fabbri and Jodi Possi spent the day representing VanAire at the fairgrounds in Escanaba, connecting with hundreds of local students. Their excitement about science, technology, engineering, and math was contagious! The kids were curious, asked great questions, and were eager to jump in and give everything a try.

And from the looks of things, the seventh graders weren’t the only ones having fun!

It’s pretty exciting to see so many young people interested in STEM and to be part of showing them where that curiosity can take them. A big thank you to Michigan Tech and Michigan Works! for putting on such a great event. What a fun day for everyone involved!

VanAire proudly sponsored three of our own team members to go through the Delta Force program this year. Amanda, Amber and Mandy graduated the program at Thursday night’s Chamber Dinner. Programs like Delta Force help strengthen our community by bringing people together, building connections, and giving future leaders a better understanding of the businesses, organizations, and people who make Delta County a great place to live and work. This is an amazing program and we are proud to sponsor team members to participate each year as it assists in developing our team members, and future leaders of the community, professionally. Congratulations to all of the graduates and local businesses who also received awards!

Friday we had the opportunity to welcome local Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District (DSISD) from the Welding, Product Design & Development, and Machining classes to VanAire for a facility tour!

Steve Soderman, Tony Lambert, and Jeff Torvinen showed the students around and shared a little about how VanAire came to be, the many different career opportunities available in manufacturing, and what it’s like to build a career at VanAire.

The conversation went beyond machines, welding, and manufacturing. Students also learned about the culture we work hard to create at VanAire and why being involved in and giving back to our community is such an important part of who we are.

CTE has a special connection to VanAire, too. Many of our current employees took CTE classes themselves, so it was great to show today’s students where those skills and experiences can lead.
We always enjoy having students in the building and giving them a chance to see firsthand where the skills they are learning in the classroom can take them.

A special thank you to Michigan Works for helping make today’s visit happen, to the CTE instructors and students for spending part of their day with us, and to Steve, Tony, and Jeff for sharing their time, experience, and VanAire story!

After falling in love with Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Kassidy moved to the area and launched a career in optometry. But when the rigid corporate structure and limited ability to solve customers’ problems left her looking for a more enriching career, she applied for a sales support team position at VanAire.

Her husband had joined our team previously, based on the recommendation of his brother-in-law. Now Kassidy’s part of the many family members at VanAire who share their workdays.

Kassidy cares deeply for the customers and colleagues she supports, and she appreciates the freedom to solve problems. Whether it’s a last-minute call from the sales team or the need to rally and get a big job out the door, Kassidy’s known for jumping into action and getting things done.

So, think of Kassidy when you think of VanAire. It's because of driven team members like her that we consistently lead the pack in Engineered Valve Automation Hardware.

For many years, Mark Winker was the man behind the bean bag tournament at VanAire's annual company picnic. He brought people together for a little friendly competition, plenty of laughter, and memories that will last for years.

This year, we wanted to do something special to honor Mark and the tradition he helped create.

We are proud to introduce the Mark Winker Memorial Bean Bag Tournament perpetual plaque, which will display the names of our tournament champions for years to come.

Mark may no longer be with us, but his memory will continue to be part of every VanAire company picnic, every bean bag tossed, and every championship celebrated.
Thank you, Mark, for the memories and for giving us a tradition worth carrying on.

Yesterday, VanAire had the opportunity to welcome this year’s Delta Force class for a tour, presentation, and Q&A about what we do and the role manufacturing plays in our local community.

Delta Force is a nine-month leadership program focused on developing informed, engaged leaders throughout Delta County. Participants learn more about education, public safety, economic and community development, local government, the political process, media communications, and other issues that shape the quality of life in our area.

Programs like Delta Force help strengthen our community by bringing people together, building connections, and giving future leaders a better understanding of the businesses, organizations, and people who make Delta County a great place to live and work.

We were proud to share a little bit of VanAire’s story and even more pleased to be part of a program that invests in the future leadership of our community. Thank you to the Delta Force class for spending part of your day with us!

We dodged the rain and had a great day celebrating our employees and their families at the VanAire company picnic on Saturday. We had our annual bean bag tournament, company tours and bounce houses for the kids, and of course the prizes. Our employees had the chance to win some awesome prizes – including a chance at the money machine booth! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our company picnic such a great day. We’re already looking forward to next year!
