Braatz Building was proud to have done some major upgrades a couple years back
to get the building in tip top shape knowing this day would come. Congrats on the long run for this generational, iconic Milwaukee restaurant.

Tonight, it was such an honor to receive the Milwaukee Historic Preservation Award for “Best Historic Commercial Renovation” for the Dubbel Dutch Hotel.

In 2019, along with partners Juli Kaufmann and Patrick Jones, we bought the historic Koeffler mansion at 817-819 N. Marshall St. Braatz Building was the general contractor of the Dubbel Dutch Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.

As we charged through construction to meet a hard deadline before a high profile booking for the DNC, we ran head first into the Covid era.
I couldn’t be more proud of all the contractors that adapted to safety precautions and continued onward. The results are absolutely stunning. As I reminisce, I can look back fondly at the joy of the struggle renovating such an important piece of Milwaukee history.

Thanks to all the craftsman that laid hands on that building. Your efforts are forever memorialized in a living piece of history.

It’s with pride and joy that I can announce that the Wiggle Room has won best new bar in MKE by Shepard Express. From building a DJ booth anchored to the basement floor,
groovy booth surround with acoustic properties, loads of record storage, seating upgrades, lighting and painting.
The Braatz Building Team hit a home run transforming another iconic bar, giving a nod to the past and giving the space a refreshed outlook.

Proud of our work on this little church renovation. Included some tricky structural work to open up the ceiling and punch in the skylights. The project was just awarded Milwaukee Magazine’s 2024 Home and Design Award for best Historic Renovation.

Canni will open its new bar and cafe space on Nov. 3, offering drinks infused with CBD, hemp-derived THC, kava and functional mushrooms.

This building brings back memories. This was the place I was awarded my first contract as an independent contractor. Late 90’s. We demolished the former tavern, Wes’s Chit Chat and then we framed in the new space which became Dep’s House of Fades.

Potato Heads will open at 27th and Lisbon.
