What does it take to cool one of Denmark’s largest hospitals?

For New Aalborg University Hospital, it’s cold water from a nearby chalk lake which acts as a stable temperature source for its Sabroe chillers and heat pumps to operate more efficiently.

By extracting and transferring heat from the lake, the systems can run at lower capacity, requiring less energy while still delivering reliable cooling year-round. The result: 80% energy savings and an 80–90% reduction (500,000–700,000 tonnes) in CO₂ emissions each year.
