Sometimes the plan changes once you get into it.

This porch roof had pulled away from the house, and from the beginning we knew there were some challenges involved. Rather than immediately telling the homeowner the whole thing had to come down, we spent quite a bit of time working through options and came up with a plan to try to save the existing roof, get it back where it belonged, and make the necessary repairs while keeping the project within reason.

Then we started opening it up.

What looked like structural framing from the outside turned out to be something very different once it was exposed. Parts of the porch roof that appeared to be structural beams were actually hollow box assemblies, along with deterioration and years of previous construction that simply weren’t capable of being repaired and supported the way we had originally hoped.

At that point, the plan had to change.

Trying to save the existing roof was no longer a safe or proper way to move forward, so we stopped, showed the homeowner what we had found, talked through the situation, and came up with a new plan.

That’s one of the realities of remodeling existing homes. Sometimes you inherit somebody else’s work, and you don’t really know what you’re dealing with until you can see behind it. Nobody likes unforeseen conditions—they cost time, they cost money, and they can change a project considerably.

But when they happen, our job is to work through them with the homeowner and figure out the right way forward.

This one changed course. But we didn’t walk away from it.

Now the old porch roof is down, we’re back to the house, and we’re rebuilding it the way it needs to be built.

We’ll show you where this one ends up.

A little look at what’s keeping us busy lately!

Sometimes the best way to appreciate the finished project is to remember where it started.

One kitchen is in the middle of a major transformation, with the old layout coming apart and a completely new space beginning to take shape. At the same time, we’re making some big changes outdoors with another deck project underway.

Neither one is quite ready for its big reveal yet, but they’re getting there!

Stay tuned — we’ve got some good before-and-afters coming.

Now THIS is a transformation.

This project went far beyond updating a kitchen. Walls came out, spaces were reconfigured, and an existing bathroom became part of a completely new kitchen layout.

The result is a dramatically different home with a large, open kitchen, tons of workspace and storage, and a layout that simply wasn’t possible before.

Projects like this are what full-scale remodeling is all about — looking beyond what’s there and figuring out what the space could be.

Progress Spotlight

One of our favorite features from this recent kitchen remodel is the cooking area.

Instead of a traditional tile backsplash, the quartz continues all the way to the ceiling behind the custom vent hood. It creates a clean, seamless look that’s easy to maintain while making the entire wall a focal point.

Combined with the custom cabinetry, under-cabinet lighting, and thoughtful layout, it’s a great example of how the little details can completely change the feel of a kitchen.

Sometimes it’s not one feature that makes a kitchen stand out—it’s how all the details come together.

We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately, and here’s why.

Our team has been focused on completing this custom kitchen remodel, and we’re excited to finally share it with you.

From the custom cabinetry and full-height quartz backsplash to the oversized island, pantry storage, custom vent hood, and built-in microwave drawer, every detail was designed to create a kitchen that’s both beautiful and functional.

We’re proud of how this project came together, and we’d like to thank our customers for trusting Twin-Co with their home.

Over the next several weeks we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite features from this kitchen and sharing why they matter in everyday life.

Some weeks are all about visible progress.

Other weeks are about waiting on inspections, countertop templates, or coordinating the next trade.

Right now…

✔️ One deck is framed and waiting on its inspection before we can keep building.

✔️ Two kitchens are waiting on countertops so we can come back for the final details.

Nobody likes waiting—including us.

But every phase has to happen in the right order if you want the finished project to last.

We’re looking forward to sharing the next round of progress soon.

🔨 Progress Update

This kitchen has come a long way.

What started as a small, closed-off space is becoming the open kitchen this family envisioned.

Along the way we’ve:
• Opened up multiple walls
• Removed an old bathroom
• Relocated plumbing and HVAC
• Installed new drywall throughout
• Completely redesigned the layout

Now the cabinetry is in, and it’s finally starting to feel like a home again.

We’re looking forward to the next phase and can’t wait to show you the finished transformation.

🔨 From the Job Site

Remodeling isn’t always about adding something new.

Some days are about tearing things apart, filling dumpsters, and finding out what’s really there.

It’s dirty work, but it’s how good projects start.

Build it right from the beginning, and the finished product takes care of itself.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a kitchen feel finished.

That custom crown detail above the cabinets isn’t there by accident. It takes extra planning, extra fitting, and a little patience, but it’s one of those finishing touches that gives a kitchen a built-in, furniture-quality look.

It’s easy to focus on countertops and cabinets, but details like this are what pull the whole room together.

We hope everyone’s having a great Wednesday!
