Just in time for the spring weather.
We are building a BIG ole' deck for a local customer.
It was important to the customer that this deck would withstand the harsh PNW weather for many years to come. Fortunately they did their due diligence and shopped quite a few local construction companies before deciding to go with Backwoods Construction.
Can you believe some local companies were planning to use those small pre cast concrete piers to support this 1000+ square foot deck?
Deck footings need to be placed below the frost line especially in the PNW. If not the ground below the concrete will freeze and move the very foundation that you are building on. Frost heave.
Moral of the story is make sure you are comparing apples to apples when getting quotes for any construction services for your home.
Enough with that. Here is a few pictures of a proper deck foundation. Placed so there would be only 1 step from the deck to the ground.
More progress pictures to come!
