We are excited to welcome Blair Welsh to our team as our new Field Application Engineer - UK & Europe!

With over 17 years of experience in the photonics and laser industry, Blair brings a background spanning service management, customer support, technical operations, and EMEA leadership. What attracted him to Vescent is the combination of fascinating technology, ambitious growth plans, and the opportunity to help build something from the ground up in Europe. He especially enjoys working closely with customers, solving problems, and bringing people together to turn technical challenges into great customer experiences.

Outside of work, Blair is a keen runner who spends much of his free time training and competing in races ranging from 5km to the marathon distance. He also enjoys watching football (soccer) with his two boys, spending time with family and friends, and traveling when they get the chance. Whether it’s working toward a running goal or taking on a new challenge, he likes staying busy and always having something to work toward.

We are excited to welcome Kofi Asare to our team as our new Electronics Technician!

Kofi is a second-generation Ghanaian American and an Electrical & Computer Engineering student at the University of Colorado Boulder with a passion for building things that fly. He brings hands-on experience across aerospace avionics, PCB development, and independent aerospace projects. From designing multilayer circuit boards to qualifying battery cells for spaceflight vehicles, he enjoys every stage of the hardware development process and thrives on turning ideas into reality.

Outside of work, Kofi’s passion for aviation continues well beyond the lab. He is a licensed Private Pilot and an FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot, and when he’s not flying, he’s usually building something that will. Fun fact: Kofi completed his first solo aircraft flight before earning his driver’s license!

As quantum technologies move from the lab to commercial markets, standards play an important role in building customer confidence, supporting interoperability, and enabling industry growth.
