It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vernon LeBlanc, Jr., an invaluable employee who worked with Chem-Spray South, Inc. for 47 years.

It is rare for a man to be so unanimously loved, positively affecting everyone he met with his genuine and gentle spirit, radiant smile, humor, and steadfastness. Vernon was not only an employee, but considered a true friend to everyone who worked at Chem-Spray.

Vernon’s talents were innumerable, and he always unselfishly offered his expertise-going beyond expectations. It is an understatement to say that he will be greatly missed and loved by our company members.

Chem-Spray South, Inc. offers our deepest condolences to the LeBlanc family.

Where to Recycle Mardi Gras Beads: Keep Tradition Green

Did you know that around 25 million pounds of beads are thrown in New Orleans alone each year, with only about 2% getting recycled? Let’s change that!

It’s time to turn this 19th-century tradition into an environmental revolution! Recycle your beads and help make a lasting impact on our planet. Drop off your beads at:

THE ARC OF EAST ASCENSION
1122 S. East Ascension Complex Blvd.
Gonzales, LA 70737

Fun Fact: The iconic Mardi Gras bead colors—purple, green, and gold—were first introduced by the Rex Organization in 1892, during their “Symbolism of Colors” parade. Purple symbolizes justice, green represents faith, and gold stands for power. These colors have become synonymous with Mardi Gras ever since!

Discover how LSU is leading the way in revolutionizing Mardi Gras and making it more sustainable.

Loss of Habitat. Loss of Life. Loss of Industry.

Louisiana wetlands aren't only a biodiversity hotspot, providing a habitat for a variety of endangered species such as the bald eagle, piping plover, and brown pelican, but they are a powerhouse of Louisiana industries.

Louisiana wetland forests have an economic value of $74.9 billion, according to an analysis by an environmental nonprofit, Dogwood Alliance.

According to the Louisiana Sea Grant, the economic contributions of Louisiana’s wetlands are:

-$30 billion per year in petroleum products.
-$2.8 billion per year in commercial fishing.
-$1.6 billion per year in recreational fishing.
-$7.4 billion per year in natural gas (21 percent of the nation’s supply).

However, the true value of our wetlands lies in their capacity to mitigate injuries, deaths, and property damage by reducing storm surge.

Coastal wetlands are invaluable to our communities.

As Election Day on Nov. 5 approaches, learn more about the Louisiana Outer Continental Shelf Revenues for Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund Amendment. A vote YES allocates capital to the Coastal Restoration Fund while a vote NO allocates capital to Louisiana's general funds.
