We've been getting quite a few calls lately about swamp coolers not keeping up.
A lot of the time, the cooler isn't the problem.
Swamp coolers need airflow to work. They bring fresh air into your home, so that air has to have somewhere to go.
Try opening a few windows in the rooms you want to cool. If one room feels warmer than another, open that window a little more and close another one a bit. You can actually control how the air moves through your house.
If you've got good airflow and it's still not cooling like it should, it may be time for a service.

Why Doesn't My House Feel Cool When It's Over 100° Outside?
If your home doesn't feel as cool as you'd like during extreme heat, it doesn't always mean your cooling system is broken.
Here's why:
Evaporative Coolers cool by pulling hot outside air through wet pads. On a 100°+ day, they'll still cool the air, but it won't feel as cold as it does on an 85° day. Dust, ash, and dirty pads can also reduce performance.
Air Conditioners work differently. They recirculate the air already inside your home, cooling it a little more with each pass. During extreme heat, it's normal for an A/C to run much longer to keep up.
If your cooler or A/C isn't keeping your home comfortable, it may just need a little maintenance—not a replacement.

Cottonwood season is tough on outdoor A/C units.

This condenser coil was packed with cottonwood and debris, reducing airflow and making the system work harder than it should. After a thorough cleaning, the coil was restored and ready for the summer heat.
