At Fishbeck, our architects bring design expertise to that process, working closely with engineers and other project specialists from concept through completion. The recently completed CONRAC facility at Gerald R. Ford International Airport, pictured here, is a great example of how thoughtful design can elevate the experience for the people who use a space every day.

When Gordon Food Service set out to relocate its Anderson, Indiana, store, the goal was to create a larger retail space with more offerings for its customers. Fishbeck provided the architecture and engineering expertise to make the move possible, designing and permitting the new grocery store within an existing retail space.

The project also brought an unexpected challenge. Early in construction, the team discovered a shallow footing where Gordon Food Service planned to install a thermally separated freezer slab. Fishbeck quickly worked with the client to develop a constructible solution with less impact on operations and construction: a tiered concrete slab.

By working collaboratively and adapting to conditions in the field, our team helped keep the project moving and deliver a larger, more customer-focused store. Finished in 2024.
