In 1987, Mike Petersen earned a degree in electrical engineering and began his career as a field service technician for Stiles Machinery, a large U.S. importer of European woodworking machines. At Stiles, Mike learned the fundamentals of the industry by installing and servicing highly automated industrial machines and systems in factories across North America. In 1992, Mike took a position with a global leader, Giben International, the Bologna, Italy based manufacturer of woodworking machines. First as a service technician, then as a member of the sales and engineering department, Mike gained invaluable experience and traveled to numerous Giben manufacturing divisions across the globe. In markets as diverse as Italy, Brazil and Denmark, he learned to design and build custom machine solutions for a broad range of customers and helped U.S.-based companies implement the highly sophisticated production systems needed to manufacture their parts and products.based companies implement the highly sophisticated production systems needed to manufacture their parts and products. In 2006, after nearly two decades in the industry, Mike put his expertise to work for himself, establishing his own company, Wolverine Wood Products.
