Finishing up our fiscal year, and what a year it was! Topping it off is that we sold over 20% more than last year and broke almost every sales record we had, but that's just the icing on the cake.
Within the last year we made significant improvements that brighten our future outlook considerably. At the beginning of the year we added computerized part measurement equipment that cut over 2,000 hrs production time/cost while also streamlining and greatly enhancing our quality control. (When you make over 11 million parts for aerospace and other critical applications a year, achieving absolute quality control at the lowest cost is a matter of survival.) In the middle of the year, we teamed up with a new water jet cutter next door (Xact Digital Manufacturing LLC), which incrementally expands our capabilities, improves our quality, and reduces our costs/prices in various ways. Lastly, we added a large CNC knife table that has been running full time since the first day it was installed earlier this month, again expanding our capabilities, improving our quality, and reducing our costs/prices in many ways.
Although the improvements behind us are significant, a couple of the biggest ones are in the works and schedule for deployment in the year ahead. One is a new improved website that should streamline administration and expand our e-commerce sales exponentially. We are also very near inking a new contract after months of negotiations with our #1 customer. and we are confident it alone will increase our overall sales with them 50-100% for the next few years and beyond.
No one knows what the future will bring, but whether it be good, bad or something in between, Metro is better prepared than ever for whatever comes.
