Last summer, the Board Shanty Fire broke out in Grants Pass, Oregon, home of the Radio Design Group headquarters. The projects in our workshop are the culmination of hundreds of hours of effort by our engineers and machinists. When flames threaten to sweep through town, it means our livelihood is on the line.
Drought conditions and forested mountain terrain put our hometown at increased risk for wildfire danger, especially in late summer.
Thankfully, due to Watch Duty, we weren't caught by surprise.
When disaster strikes and the modes of communication we rely on fail, RF communication can help. Most people don't have their own ham radio setup, but almost everyone has a smartphone.
Not crowdsourced. Not powered by AI. Watch Duty employs a team of working professionals who monitor radio scanners, wildfire cameras, satellites, and other public sources like police, sheriff, and fire services.
Thank you, Watch Duty.
