When we build custom homes across East Tennessee, we have to build for the local climate. Our humid summers and crisp winters require an insulation strategy that goes beyond standard builder grade methods. At Penwood Homes, we recommend what we call a "Flash & Batt" system.

"Flash & Batt" is a hybrid insulation method that combines the best of two worlds. First, we spray a 1 to 2 inch layer of closed cell spray foam directly into the wall cavity. Once it expands, we fill the remaining space with traditional, high-density insulation batts.

This system provides an excellent v***r barrier, improved R-Value, and requires a significantly lower upfront investment that those expensive 100% spray foam systems.
