AstroCappella

AstroCappella Songs, activities, & background science materials available at www.astrocappella.com.

AstroCappella is a marriage of astronomy and music, developed by astronomers and educators and professionally recorded by the rocking a cappella group The Chromatics. Originally developed for use in classrooms with accompanying lesson plans and activities, AstroCappella is also entertainment in its own right. A series of animations to go with the songs is planned, making this project a true multimedia package.

It's International Dark Sky Week!

Some lyrics from an original song we're working on right now...

Under dark skies...
If we turned off the lights that blind us
What a possibility!
If we leave our fears behind us
What wonders could we see?
I’m dreaming under dark skies
Let there be night

We should have this one ready to perform for you at our gigs this fall! Turn off your outdoor lights if you can, and look up!

We'll be at the National Air & Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center (in Chantilly, VA) on Dec 14, performing three rocking sets of AstroCappella tunes! Bring the family and hear our new space shanty, Apollo 13, as well as a few Astro songs we haven't performed in many a year. Sets will be (approximately) 10:30, noon, and 1:30 under the tail of the Space Shuttle. We LOVE singing there!

On October 14, there will be an annular eclipse in parts of the US. Here in the DC area, it'll be a partial eclipse. Come down to the National Air & Space Museum on the Mall in Washington, DC, to learn more. And while you're there, you can hear us sing about the Sun and Moon (two things you need for an eclipse) and many other astronomical concepts! We'll be performing at 10:30am, noon, and 1:30pm.
