Just a friendly reminder to change your filters. Also it is normal for fog to freeze on a heat pump it should defrost within a few hours. Frosting is normal large ice accumulation is not. Everyone have a great weekend.

Ok it’s been awhile since I posted. I’ve been extremely busy. With the temperatures getting around 100 during the day and not getting below 80 at night the air conditioning equipment is working overtime just to keep up. Here’s a few tips to help ease the stress on your cooling equipment
1. Change your air filters regularly. Dirty filters will restrict airflow, lower efficiency, and cause premature blower motor failure.
2. Keep grass and debris cleared away from your outdoor unit. Be careful not to damage the Freon lines or cut the thermostat wire . I recommend w**d killer to reduce the risks of damage with a w**d eater. Any obstruction can cause an unnecessary increase in the head pressure which lowers efficiency and causes compressor failure and blown capacitors.
3. Take a water hose and rinse the out door condenser coils to help with efficiency during the heat of the day.
4. Spray for ants or place ant killer around the outside unit to prevent them from getting into contacts or causing shorts in control boards.

Just a heads up for the upcoming weather. Rain and freezing rain are very hard on heat pumps. Rain will freeze almost instantly on metal surfaces and cause damage to fan blades and condenser coils. Keep a close watch on your equipment. Turn them to Emeregency heat if you notice any buildup or vibrations. It probably would be a good idea to turn them to emergency heat for the duration of this freezing rain event to prevent damage.

I’ve seen a few air conditioners froze up in my 30 yrs of doing this but this one takes the cake! Outdoor contractor stuck closed so no telling how long it’s been running.

It’s that time of year again. Cold weather will soon be on us. Here’s a few helpful tips to save you money.

1. If you live in a house with a crawl space make sure to close all the vents going under the house to help prevent pipes from freezing under the house. And During extreme cold weather a light under your house will help prevent the temps from getting below freezing.

2. Make sure all outdoor water faucets are covered and all water hoses are removed and drained.

3. Make sure to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for proper operation.

4. Have your heating system checked by an experienced technician for proper operation and potential cracks in the heat exchanger for gas systems and check wiring and proper amp Draw on electric systems.

These are just a few things to remember to get done before the weather takes a turn and will save you money on your electric bill and costly repairs.
