🚨🔧 HEY, MACHINISTS… WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU! 🔧🚨

Do you know your way around a CNC machine?
Can you read a print without needing someone to hold your hand?
Do you take pride in making a part RIGHT, not just making a part?

Then we might want to talk to you. 👀

Castle Machine Company is HIRING a Machinist!

We’re a family-owned machine shop in Greencastle, PA, and we’re looking for someone who knows machining, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a team where good work is noticed and appreciated.

We’re not looking for someone who just wants to punch a clock.

We want someone who:
🔩 Knows machining
📐 Can read prints
⚙️ Can set up and run machines
🧠 Can troubleshoot when things don’t go according to plan
💪 Takes pride in their work
🤝 Works well with a team
🔥 Actually CARES about the parts they put out the door

We’ve got a lot of experience in this shop, and we’re looking for another good machinist to add to the Castle crew.

If that sounds like you — or you know someone who would be a great fit — send us a message!

🔧 Machining Myth Monday | Week 6

❌ MYTH: “CNC machines do all the work.”

I'll admit it… if you've never been inside a machine shop, it's pretty easy to think that's how it works. 😂

Load the material.

Push a button.

Let the machine do its thing.

If only it were that easy! 😉

There's a LOT that happens before that machine ever starts cutting.

Our machinists have to:
🔹 Read the print
🔹 Figure out the best way to make the part
🔹 Choose the right tools
🔹 Program the machine
🔹 Set everything up
🔹 Adjust speeds and feeds
🔹 Watch the process
🔹 Make adjustments when needed
🔹 Inspect the finished part

And when something doesn't go according to plan?

That's when experience REALLY matters.

A CNC machine can follow a program...

…but it doesn't have years of experience knowing when something doesn't sound right, look right, or feel right.

That's the skill our machinists bring to the table every day. ❤️

I'm incredibly proud of the people behind the machines at Castle Machine Company.

The machines make the chips.
Our people make the parts. 🔧

💬 Did you ever think CNC machining was basically just “push a button and let the machine run”?

Be honest! 😂👇

🔧 Machining Myth Monday | Week 5

❌ MYTH: “The faster you run the machine, the faster you get the parts.”

✅ REALITY: Faster isn't always better!

It might seem like a simple equation:

Run the machine faster = make more parts. 🤷‍♀️

But machining doesn't quite work that way.

There has to be a balance between speed, quality, tooling, and consistency.

If you push a machine too hard, you can end up with:

🔹 Worn-out tools
🔹 Bad surface finishes
🔹 Parts that don't hold the right dimensions
🔹 Broken tooling
🔹 Scrap and rework
🔹 More downtime

Our machinists and programmers have to consider a LOT more than just how fast the machine can run.

They're thinking about the material, tooling, speeds and feeds, setup, tolerances, and what will produce the best part while keeping the process efficient.

Sometimes, slowing down in the right place actually helps us make parts faster overall! 🔧

At Castle Machine Company, we're always looking for ways to improve—but we're not willing to sacrifice quality just to make a machine run a little faster.

Because it's not about making parts as fast as possible.

It's about making good parts as efficiently as possible.

💬 Be honest… if you saw a CNC machine running really fast, would you assume it was automatically making parts faster? 😂

🔧 We’re More Than Just a Machine Shop!

A lot goes into getting a precision-machined part out the door.

It starts with raw material, but it takes experience, equipment, problem-solving, attention to detail, and a great team to turn that material into a finished part our customers can depend on.

That’s what we do here at Castle Machine Company. ❤️

We’re a family-owned machine shop in Greencastle, PA, specializing in:

⚙️ CNC Milling
⚙️ CNC Turning

🔧 Machining Myth Monday | Week 4

❌ MYTH: “If two parts look the same, they must be the same.”

👀 REALITY: Not always!

Two parts can look almost identical and still be completely different when it comes to how they fit, function, and perform.

In our world, the little things can make a BIG difference.

A hole that's just a little off…
A measurement that's only a few thousandths different…
A surface that's not quite right…
The wrong material…

Things you might never notice just by looking at a part can make a huge difference once that part goes into an assembly or machine.

That's why there's so much more to precision machining than simply making something look right.

It has to measure right, fit right, and work right. 🔧

And that's where the experience of our machinists, careful planning, inspection, and quality control really matter.

At Castle Machine Company, we're not just making parts.

We're making parts that our customers can count on. ❤️

💬 Here's a fun question: If I put two machined parts in front of you that looked identical, do you think you'd be able to tell which one was made correctly?

I'm guessing most people would say NO! 😂

Drop your answer below! 👇

🔧 Machining Myth Monday | Week 3

❌ Myth: “If the part looks right, it’s good enough.”

✅ Reality: In machining, looks can be deceiving!

A part can look absolutely perfect and still be wrong.

Why?

Because some of the most important details are things you can't see with your eyes.

Our team may be checking:

🔹 Exact dimensions
🔹 Tight tolerances
🔹 Hole sizes and locations
🔹 Threads and fits
🔹 Surface finish
🔹 Material requirements
🔹 Overall part quality

Sometimes we're talking about measurements down to the thousandths of an inch! 😳

That's why machining isn't just about making something that looks good.

It's about making something that measures correctly, fits correctly, functions correctly, and meets the customer's requirements.

At Castle Machine Company, we don't believe in “close enough.”

Because when you're making precision parts, the details matter. 🔧

💬 Be honest… before seeing posts like this, did you realize how precise a machined part can actually be?

Drop a 👇 if you learned something new!

🔧 Machining Myth Monday | Week 2

❌ Myth: "Machining is just cutting metal."

✅ Reality: There's so much more to it than that.

Before a single machine starts or the first chip flies, there's a lot of planning happening behind the scenes. Every part we produce starts with a process designed for accuracy, efficiency, and quality.

Our team carefully considers:
🔹 Choosing the right material
🔹 Selecting the best tooling
🔹 Determining speeds and feeds
🔹 Planning the setup and workholding
🔹 Holding tight tolerances
🔹 Verifying every part through inspection

Every one of those decisions matters.

When a customer receives a precision-machined part, they're seeing the result of experience, teamwork, and careful planning—not just metal being cut.

At Castle Machine Company, we're proud of the work that happens both at the machines and behind the scenes to ensure every part meets our customers' expectations.

💬 Question of the week: Before today, did you know how much planning goes into machining a single part? Let us know in the comments!

📢 Be sure to check back next Monday for another Machining Myth Monday!

Machining Myth Monday

Post once a week.

Example:

Machining Myth #1

"The computer does all the work."

Truth:

CNC machines are incredibly advanced, but they're only as good as the people programming them, setting them up, selecting the right tooling, and inspecting the finished part.

Behind every precision part is a skilled machinist, programmer, and quality team making sure it meets the customer's specifications.

Technology is important.

Skilled people make the difference.

🧩 Can you guess what this part does?

Every day we manufacture precision components that end up in machines all over the country.

Here's today's challenge...

👇 What do you think this part is used for?

A) Construction Equipment

B) Packaging Machinery

C) Food Processing

D) Aerospace

(We'll reveal the answer tomorrow if we're able to!)

It's always fun to see everyone's guesses.

Customer information is always kept confidential.
