👋 Meet the S&S Team!

If you've called S&S Heating & AC, there's a good chance you've talked to Barb. And if you've stopped by the office, there's an even better chance you've met her two Golden Doodle coworkers, Carly and Barron. 🐶🐶

Barb and her husband, Adam, took ownership of S&S in 2010. While she has officially been working in the office for the past two years, she's been working behind the scenes for S&S for much longer—helping shape the company into what it is today.

Over the years, Barb has helped create a more unified look for S&S, from our logo and rebranding to the new vehicles you see around town. She's also worked with our suppliers to make S&S an American Standard dealer and built partnerships with other local businesses to help us better serve our community.

Before joining S&S, Barb spent over 20 years in banking. She put that experience to work for our customers, too, working with our partners to bring financing options back to S&S—something we hadn't been able to offer our customers for several years.

But when you ask Barb what she loves most about working at S&S, her answer is pretty simple: the people, bring her dogs to work, and being able to provide fair service to our community. ❤️

A few things you might not know about Barb:

🌮 Favorite food: Chips & queso. (Honestly, can you blame her?)

🍫 Chocolate fan? Nope. Not even a little. 😂

☀️ Favorite season: Summer! The warmer and sunnier, the better.

🌊 Happy place: Pretty much anywhere there's water—pool, ocean, hot tub… she's not picky.

✈️ Favorite travel destination: Aruba

🐶 Carly: The cuddler, Barb's emotional support dog, and clearly a very important member of the S&S team.

🐶 Barron: The troublemaker responsible for a significant amount of Barb's emotional distress. 😂

🚨 Your HVAC system would like a word about this filter. 🚨

A customer called because they were hearing a loud whistling sound coming from their HVAC system.

Our technicians found this filter inside the return grille. 😳

Needless to say, this filter had been doing its job for a little too long.

A dirty or clogged filter can restrict airflow, make your system work harder, and contribute to comfort and performance problems.

So… let's see how many of you know your filter! 👇

🌬️ Do you know what size filter your HVAC system uses?
📅 How often do you change yours?
🤔 Are you a “change it every month” person, or a “wait…when DID I change that?” person?

Here's a general rule of thumb:

🔹 1-inch filters: Check monthly and typically replace about every 1–3 months, depending on your home, pets, allergies, and how quickly it gets dirty.

🔹 4–5-inch media filters: These generally last longer, often around 6–12 months, but they should still be checked according to the manufacturer's recommendations and your home's conditions.
