Baffled! 73 new views on our page! Great except that possibly as a result of seeking a permit from the City of Greenfield for blasting ledge. An activity we've been undertaking since the nineties! unaware that an additional permit was needed. Now comes an unidentified poster, claiming we will be undertaking operations akin to "West Virginia Strip Mining" "Clear cutting Forests' "Blasting HillTops". People familiar with us and our operation realize the fallacy of his rabble rousing rhetoric, but, of course some in the local area believe him who is not named and expect the worst! Well, as you know, people are apt to jump to conclusions rather than take the time to make a call, ask a question of those involved, because why would the unidentified poster lie........

"Developer", "West Virginia Style Strip Mining" "Clearcut" "Remove the Hilltops" "Free Rein to Blastā, inflammatory provocative terms meant to rattle and upset, all by someone who feels the need to post under a pseudonym rather than his real name? I've been with this company, started by my grandfather, the first John Mackin, since 1977. Started as a laborer in this gravel pit, when we did the groundwork for the "New" Turners Falls High School in 1974, I graduated to delivering oil during the Blizzard of 78, and upon the death of my uncle Peter Mackin, I became the operational general manager. So I feel fairly well established in this community. I do not know this man Birt but I know that he has never contacted me to get any information, whatsoever regarding this issue. It's much easier to assume, inflate and exaggerate. We have been excavating red ledge here since the mid 90's. We have been crushing, processing, sorting and supplying red rock material from this property for over twenty-five years! We operate near precision machinists in the industrial park, and we keep them abreast of our activity and have never had any issues. We have always acted responsibly and are confident that Ryan will as well. Ryan Geeleher is a small contractor, born and brought up in Southampton, MA, doing the same work that Mackin Construction has been known for, site work, excavation and heavy highway construction in the warmer months, snow removal in the winter. Referring to him as a "Developer" just fits "Birt's" narrative. I believe that Ryan will be a great fit here in Greenfield, as I have tried to be for these last fifty years, as has my family before me.
