Today, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the continued efforts to address unfair trade practices that have long impacted American manufacturing.

Recent action strengthening tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, and copper under Section 232 is a meaningful step toward leveling the playing field for U.S. manufacturers. Policies like these help protect domestic production, support skilled American labor, and reinforce the integrity of industries that quite literally build this country.

After over 40 years at Novel Iron Works, we wished Ben well on his retirement yesterday.

People like Ben are the reason that I've fought for Buy American legislation for over 25 years. I will continue that fight in Congress because the American worker deserves a voice.

Meet the Team Monday: Ray 🖥️💾

Ray joined Novel Iron Works in 2013 as a junior detailer. He was self-taught, learned by doing, and quickly proved he had the drive to grow in the trade.

Over time, he worked his way into a Lead Detailer role, and over the past couple of years has stepped into his current position as Detailer Manager. Along the way, he’s helped build a strong team of engineers and detailers who are ready to take on projects of any size or complexity, and take pride in doing them right.

Ray has become a core part of the Novel family. He leads by example, supports the people around him, and takes real ownership in the work that leaves our shop.

We’re proud of how far he’s come and excited to see how far he’ll take us.

Ray, thank you for everything you bring to Novel. The work ethic, the leadership, and the pride you take in doing things the right way.

Structural steel is fabricated year-round so projects stay on schedule—even when jobsites are frozen, snow-covered, or waiting on spring thaw. While the weather sets the pace outside, the shop keeps moving.
