It’s Careers in Construction Month, and our interns are showing what the job really looks like. 🏗️

No coffee runs. No paper-pushing. Our All Star interns work on active job sites, alongside real project teams, learning what the classroom can’t teach.

“90% of what you learn is out in the field, and the other 10% is in school.”

From abandoned grocery store to the heart of Durham County elections.

We worked with WC Construction in a joint venture to convert this 54,000SF space into a secure, sustainable elections facility, while delivering on a fast-tracked schedule for the 2024 election cycle. It was later recognized with an ABC Carolinas Merit Award.

Layered security, rooftop solar, and public EV charging make this a building the community can count on. Thank you to our partners at RND Architects and the entire project team.

Polls are open. Go vote!

On Monday, we hosted our Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Blood Cancer United, and what a day it was! Together, we raised an incredible $75,000 to help fund lifesaving research and support for patients and families facing blood cancer.

Here’s a look at the day:
🏌️ 28 teams
🏌️ 112 golfers
🏆 Congratulations to WZ Fultz, our tournament champions!

We were honored to have Blood Cancer United Honored Hero Emma join us. She shared her story and how Blood Cancer United supported her family, then kicked off the tournament with a ceremonial first tee shot. Emma, you inspire all of us.

A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors, whose generosity made this day possible:
Platinum Sponsor: Riverview Exterior Construction
Gold Sponsor: DH Griffin
Silver Sponsors: Builders FirstSource, Heede, Sunbelt Rentals

To everyone who played, sponsored, volunteered, and cheered us on: thank you. Every swing brought us closer to a cure. We can’t wait to see you next year! ⛳

It’s Careers in Construction Month, and our Director of Business Development in Savannah, Clarence Satchell, has a message for employers, schools, and parents: most kids can’t picture a construction career because they’ve never seen one.

Clarence got his start through a grandmother who ran a general contracting business and a mentor who gave him a chance to learn the trade. Now his own kids are getting a look at the job site.

Workers under 25 make up less than 10% of the construction workforce. Exposure is how that changes. From trades days on our job sites to our partnership with RISE and our All-Star Internship program, we’re working to open the door.

Last Thursday, Samet was proud to be the presenting sponsor of the annual Social and Networking Event hosted by the NC A&T Built Environment Construction Management Advisory Board.

The turnout was fantastic! 18 companies and more than 100 students came together to connect, share stories, and talk about what a career in construction can look like. 6 students also received $8,500 in scholarships. Congratulations to each of them!

Thank you to the BLTECM Advisory Board, and all of the sponsors and companies that helped make the event happen!

Last Thursday, we broke ground on Firehouse 44 alongside the City of Charlotte. 🔥🌲

This 14,000 SF, three-bay firehouse will serve the growing River District community and will be the first mass timber firehouse in the Southeast. As design-builder, we're proud to partner with the City and ADW Architects on a project that puts sustainability and public safety side by side.

Thank you to Charlotte Fire, the Office of Sustainability & Resilience, and everyone who joined us to celebrate. We can't wait to build this one.

Saturday night, Samet helped light up Greensboro Grasshoppers Stadium for Light The Night!

Together, our team has raised $75,551 so far for Blood Cancer United to help fund life-saving research and support patients and their families. And a huge congratulations to our very own Garrett Draughn, the top fundraiser in the Triad! 👏

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and showed up rain or shine to help bring light to the darkness of blood cancer. We’re proud to be part of this community. 💛❤️🤍

INTERN SPOTLIGHT: Grace Rainey

Before the sun was even up, Grace was already on-site for an early morning concrete pour. Her video was one of the standouts in our company-wide intern video competition!

📍 CLT | 🏗️ Project Falcon | 📚 Senior

"This summer connected the dots between my classroom knowledge and real-life construction experience. Watching the team solve problems day-to-day was the most valuable part of this internship — and it only grew my interest in this industry." 💬

Nice work, Grace!

It's career fair season and we're recruiting our next class of interns. Want hands-on experience like this? Come find us at your campus career fair or send us a message. 👷‍♀️
