9.47 @ 150 MPH on our 2022 CT5-V Blackwing with a factory sealed, internally STOCK engine. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

After finding the limit of the stock low-side fuel system with our Kong X-Port setup, it was time to step the combination up again and take it back to the track.

Our current 2022 CT5-V Blackwing setup:

• Wisher Performance AuxJection
• Whipple Gen 6 3.0L supercharger
• 9.2 lower / 3.25 upper pulley
• 103mm throttle body
• JLT 5” intake
• 2” long-tube headers
• 74% ethanol
• 525 LPH external low-side pump
• ECM / TCM tune

Also worth noting:

• 18” rear wheels
• 325 Mickey Thompson ET Street R
• 4,600 lb race weight

With the Whipple-supplied 3.75 upper pulley and the same 9.2 lower, this setup previously made:

858 WHP / 830 WTQ

For the track, we stepped down to a 3.25 upper pulley and have not put this exact combination back on the dyno yet.

But a 9.47 @ 150 MPH quarter-mile pass gives us a pretty good look at what the current combination is capable of.

We’ll have updated dyno numbers with the 3.25 upper soon.

For now, seeing a 4,600 lb Blackwing with a factory sealed engine run a 9.47 at 150 MPH is a pretty solid way to validate what this AuxJection equipped combination can do outside of the dyno room.

Time slip in the comments.

Special thanks to Muncie Dragway for giving us a killer surface to make some passes on, and to the Hole Shot Media crew for continuing to put on awesome street car events every month.

Listen to this X-Port scream its way to 784 WHP, where the stock low-side fuel system finally told us “enough.”

After our first setup made 699 WHP / 736 WTQ, we still hadn’t pushed the stock low-side fuel system far enough to find its limit.

For the next setup, we kept the same supporting combination:

• Wisher Performance AuxJection
• 103mm throttle body
• JLT 5” intake
• 76% ethanol
• ECM tune
• Stock low-side fuel system

From there, we changed the blower and pulley combination to:

• Kong X-Port LT4 supercharger
• ATI balancer with 9.2 lower pulley
• 2.3 upper pulley

The pulley change was intentional.

The 2.175 upper pulley we used previously is more prone to belt slip. With the stock lower pulley, that combination spins the supercharger at about 3.68x crankshaft RPM.

Moving to the 9.2 lower with a 2.3 upper gave us better belt wrap while increasing that ratio to 4.0x crankshaft RPM.

With the X-Port added and the new pulley combination, the Blackwing made:

784 WHP / 758 WTQ

And this time, we finally found the limit we were looking for.

At 784 WHP, low-side fuel pressure was dropping to around 40 psi, while AuxJection injector duty cycle climbed to over 90%.

That is not an operating point we recommend for customers.

Once injector utilization gets that high, there is not enough headroom left to safely add fuel if conditions change. Something as simple as a slight voltage drop can reduce fuel-pump flow even further.

So we stopped there.

Not because the blower was done making power, but because the stock low-side fuel system was finally out of capacity.

This stage of testing gave us a much clearer picture of where the factory low side becomes the limiting factor as power and fuel demand continue to increase.

We also did some additional boost-control testing during this setup, but we’ll save more on that for another time. 👀

Why start with the smallest upper pulley, E76, and the stock low-side fuel system? 👀

Our first round of Blackwing testing wasn’t just about seeing what number we could put on the dyno. We intentionally wanted to push fuel demand and find out where the factory low-side system would start becoming the limitation. As it turned out, there was more left in the factory system than we initially thought.

This setup was:

• Wisher Performance AuxJection
• 103mm throttle body
• JLT 5” intake
• 2.175 upper pulley, the smallest available
• 76% ethanol
• ECM tune
• Stock low-side fuel system
• Stock LT4 Supercharger

That combination made 699 WHP / 736 WTQ, up from the completely bone-stock baseline of 601 WHP / 629 WTQ.

The smaller upper pulley increased blower speed and airflow, while E76 increased the amount of fuel the combination demanded. We intentionally left the factory low-side system in place to see how far we could push it.

During track testing, low-side fuel pressure eventually dropped to around 45 psi down track. As pressure dropped, AuxJection’s pressure compensation worked alongside the factory Global B wideband control to keep delivered fueling in check.

That testing led us to make changes to the factory fuel-pump control strategy. After updating it, we were able to maintain over 60 psi of low-side pressure at 700 WHP, compared to around 45 psi with stock control. That updated strategy is now included by default in the Global B AuxJection file written to the ECU.

This first setup wasn’t about building the highest-horsepower Blackwing possible. It was about putting AuxJection in a demanding real-world situation, finding the limitations, and using what we learned to improve the system.

And yes, we kept pushing it from there. 😎

From 601 WHP bone stock to 857 WHP 🫨

When we started testing our 2022 CT5-V Blackwing, it made 601 WHP / 629 WTQ completely bone stock.

From there, we continued changing the combination and testing AuxJection as the car progressed.

Bone Stock | 601 WHP / 629 WTQ

Stock Blower + AuxJection | 699 WHP / 736 WTQ
• Wisher Performance AuxJection
• 103mm throttle body
• JLT 5” intake
• 2.175 upper pulley
• 76% ethanol
• ECM tune
• Stock low-side fuel system

Kong X-Port | 784 WHP / 758 WTQ
• Kong X-Port stock LT4 supercharger
• ATI balancer with 9.2 lower pulley
• 2.3 upper pulley

Boost control was also being tested during this run, which is why the Kong X-Port curve looks a little different from the others.

Whipple 3.0 | 857 WHP / 829 WTQ
• Whipple Gen 6 3.0L supercharger
• 3.75 upper pulley
• Long-tube headers
• 525 LPH low-side pump

At 857 WHP / 829 WTQ, AuxJection injector utilization was only 78%.

From a completely bone stock Blackwing to the current Whipple setup, AuxJection has been along for the entire progression as we’ve continued pushing the combination further.

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 5 star review from ANTHONY R32:

Wisher AuxJection works exactly as advertised. I recently used it on a 900 WHP 6th gen Camaro build, and it performed flawlessly. From a tuning standpoint, the integration is seamless no workarounds, no gimmicks, and no headaches. It does exactly what it’s designed to do. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable auxiliary fueling solution that also cuts down manifold air temps!

A little behind the scenes update:

We’ve been a little quieter and slower to respond this week because we’ve been working late nights trying to get the Blackwing testing wrapped up.

We’ll also be out this weekend, so responses will be very limited while we’re away. We’ll be back at it Monday morning.

Unfortunately, we missed being at the track today, but if you’re in the area, come see us at Marion Municipal Airport Saturday and Sunday.
