Mechanical core aeration and liquid aerations will be started in about 6-10 weeks. Call today to get scheduled if you aren’t already on the schedule from previous years.
Mechanical core aeration will help loosen soil compaction, increase airflow to the root zone, increase nutrient availability, promotes deeper roots, create more branching in the stolons and rhizomes, helps with color, and much more. Plus you can mow immediately after, if no other treatment is applied that day.
The only cons are it is quite invasive, unsafe on hilled terrain, leaves the lawn looking messy for up to a couple weeks. Your irrigation, invisible underground lines, and underground pet fences need to be marked a few days prior. Despite that there is still a chance the machine hits one of those things. Also any back gates need to be unlocked, with pets inside… and the machine cores better if the lawn is slightly damp.
Liquid aeration provides the exact same benefits without the mess or hassle. It also has benefits that the mechanical core aeration can’t provide. Like organic fertilizers, and loads of other goodies for the soil mixed in. On lawns the machine can’t do safely, or lawns with areas the machine can’t fit into… we do liquid aeration. Or lawns where the customer request it.
The cons to liquid aeration are… it is much slower at its showing results. It’s designed for long term benefits to the soil profile… whereas mechanical core gives quicker, but shorter lived results.
The combination of the two(mechanical & liquid), with the occasional top dressing, using a high quality organic topsoil/compost/sand mixture… is the best way to ensure longevity of soil health. Call us today to schedule either for your lawn.
