Here’s a simple look at why wheel tracks matter in wheat:

Ground rig
28" of total tire track ÷ 120' boom width = 1.94% of the crop trampled

On 100 bushel wheat:
100 bu/ac × 1.94% = 1.94 bushels lost per acre

Using about $5.98/bu SPF wheat at St. Louis:
1.94 bu × $5.98 = $11.60 per acre lost
