Construction projects bring excitement, but they also bring serious electrical risks. This Electrical Safety Month, we're reminding members, contractors, and crews to look up before they dig, build, or haul.
⚠️ Always call 811 before digging. Underground lines can be just as dangerous as overhead ones.
🚧 Keep all equipment, like the boom on a truck, back hoes or dump trucks, at least 10 feet from power lines.
🏗️ If a vehicle contacts a power line, stay inside the cab, call 911, and warn others to stay back.
📋 Make sure your crew is briefed on overhead power line locations before any job begins.
Safety on the job site starts with knowing where the power begins and ends.

🛑 STOP: Faulty wiring is NOT a do-it-yourself project.

Faulty wiring is a leading cause of home fires. Whether your home is decades old or brand new, wiring can become damaged by age or even small rodents. 🐭⚡️

Don't ignore these symptoms:
⚠️ Hot outlet covers
⚠️ Flickering or dimming lights
⚠️ The smell of burning plastic

If you notice these signs, call a licensed electrician to make the repairs. If danger is imminent, shut off your main breaker and exit the home immediately. 🏃💨

Warm weather means more time outside, and more chances to encounter electrical hazards. This Electrical Safety Month, we want to make sure you're safe whether you're mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, or enjoying your yard.
🚜 Watch out for extension cords that could be cut while trimming or become a tripping hazard.
🌧️ Never use electric power tools near sprinklers, irrigation systems or during rainy weather.
🌲 Always maintain at least 10 feet of distance from power lines when working outside.
⛈️ If a tool or other equipment comes in contact with a power line, stay away. Call 911 or us immediately.
🔌 Unplug and store outdoor tools properly when not in use.
Your yard should be your happy place, so let's keep it that way!

Electrical Safety Month is the perfect time to talk to kids about staying safe around electricity!
Here's what every child should know.
🙅 Never pull a plug out by the cord — always grab the plug itself.
💧 Water and electricity are a dangerous combo, so keep any device that is plugged in away from sinks, tubs, and pools.
🚫 Outlets are tempting to touch. Use protective covers to keep little hands and toys away from them.
🌳 Never climb trees that are near or touching power lines. Even if the lines look harmless, they carry dangerous electricity.
💚 Stay away from the “big green box” you might see in your yard or neighborhood — it's electrical equipment that should only be touched by trained professionals.
Teaching these habits early builds a lifetime of safe behavior. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💙
