Blair Construction

Blair Construction In 1911, Blair Construction Founder Roy Blair kept his contracts in his head and his tools in the trunk of his car.

Our portfolio includes public and private schools, churches, municipal buildings, multi-unit residential buildings, medical facilities, and a multitude of industrial and advanced manufacturing facilities. Though we’ve expanded from one man and a toolbox to over 70 employees, we’ve never lost sight of what makes us so successful: an old-fashioned dedication to carrying our customers through a high-

quality, low-stress construction project. Owner Fred Blair continues in the footsteps of his father and grandfather by running a high-performing construction firm based on simple family values and long-standing business principles. Blair Construction has maintained those same small-town high standards while incorporating the latest industry advances in technology and safety. The proof of our success is in our relationships. Since 2010, Blair has completed over 500 projects. Eight in ten of those projects were based on existing client relationships. One beam at a time, Blair Construction has grown into one of the most successful and sought-after contractors in the Blue Ridge region.

A lot of what makes a project successful happens before construction ever starts.

Budgets get reviewed. Plans get refined. Conversations happen early about what is realistic and what is not.

Sometimes that means helping an owner adjust a design. Sometimes it means finding a better path to make a project financially workable.

Good preconstruction is not paperwork.

It is getting the right people involved early so good ideas can become projects that actually get built.

Q: What is one thing owners consistently underestimate during construction?

A: How many decisions need to happen once work gets moving.

Questions come up. Material availability changes. Site conditions are not always what was expected. Small decisions need answers so work can keep moving.

That is why communication and coordination matter.

At Blair, we work to establish clear communication early, keep the right people involved, and address issues quickly so small questions do not become bigger problems.

Good projects move because owners, architects, engineers, and contractors stay connected and work through issues together.

Construction moves fast. Good communication helps keep it moving.

Congratulations to the Brookville High SchoolClass of 2026.

As Blair's work at Brookville High School nears completion, we were honored to join students and staff during Decision Day to celebrate this exciting milestone.

Blair is proud to support Brookville's After Grad program and invest in the communities where we live and work.

We wish these graduates the very best as they take the next step in their journey.

Your contractor’s trade partnerships shape your project’s success more than almost any line item in the contract.

When coordination slips, it leads to delays, rework, and unnecessary pressure.

Before hiring a construction partner for your next expansion, ask these three questions:

- How long have your key trade partners worked with you?
- Have they completed similar, quality work in this sector?
- How do you handle performance accountability throughout the project?

The answers will tell you who is just managing a contract, and who is actually managing a team.

Ready to discuss your next building expansion? Let’s start a conversation: https://blair-construction.com/contact/

Blair Construction recently completed a two-year, $41.8 million renovation of the historic John M. Langston campus in Danville, Virginia, transforming it into a modern home for Galileo Magnet High School.

Originally built in 1957, the campus required a full systems upgrade while preserving its historic character. The project included a new roof, updated HVAC systems, and the addition of a GO-TEC STEM lab designed to support hands-on, career-focused learning.

Completed in late 2025, the facility now serves both the magnet school and Danville Public Schools' central office.

This project reflects a broader investment in the future of Danville’s students, funded through a voter-approved initiative to modernize school infrastructure across the community.

Experience isn't just a number on a resume; it’s the reason our projects move safely and on schedule. This month, we’re proud to recognize those celebrating work anniversaries:

- Heath Creasy – 20 Years
- Telvis Carter – 8 Years
- Scott McKee – 5 Years
- Gio’Vanni Navarra – 2 Years
- Javius Clark – 1 Year

When the same faces show up to your project year after year, that institutional knowledge translates directly to better site management and fewer surprises.

Thank you for your dedication to the Blair standard!

Scope changes are part of most complex construction projects.

What matters is how they’re handled.

At Blair, our priority when unforeseen project hurdles arise is clarity. We flag issues early, present solutions, and ensure everything is documented before work resumes.

First Piedmont Waste and Recycling Solutions described it this way after 30 years of working together:

“When Blair is faced with an obstacle, they find a solution. It’s seamless to me, like there was never an issue.” — Ben Davenport, First Piedmont Waste and Recycling Solutions

A change order doesn’t have to slow a project down when it’s managed the right way.

Jobsite safety doesn’t just impact the build. It impacts the building.

When work is done in a controlled, organized environment, systems are installed correctly and rework is minimized. That attention to detail isn’t an accident. It’s a habit built by our field teams long before the first tool comes out.

At Blair, we believe a safe site is a superior site. By prioritizing order and accountability, we deliver a facility that performs exactly as intended for years to come.
