How do you trench 24 feet deep on a city street without tearing it up?

Hard Pennsylvania limestone plus sidewalks and traffic running along the excavation the whole way down.

A hydraulic hammer would have needed a 20 ft wide cut at the top just to reach that depth. But, the Antraquip AQ-4XL held a trench just 5 ft wide from top to bottom! At least 4X faster than the hammer and the material was clean enough to be approved for reuse as backfill once the pipe was in the ground.
