🔧 Unit Under Warranty… So Why Do You Have a Bill?”
We completely understand why this can be confusing, and it’s one of the most common questions we’re asked.
When an HVAC system is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, that warranty typically helps cover defective parts. However, there may still be other costs involved in completing the repair.
Here are a few items that may still result in a service charge:
✅ Diagnostic Time
Finding the issue still requires a trained technician and specialized tools.
✅ Labor
Most manufacturer warranties cover parts, but not the labor required to remove and replace them.
✅ Refrigerant
If your system has lost refrigerant due to a leak, the refrigerant itself is usually not covered by the manufacturer.
✅ Maintenance-Related Issues
Warranty coverage may be denied if the system has not been properly maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
✅ Additional Materials & Repairs
Items such as wiring, drain line repairs, fittings, brazing materials, or other components needed to complete the repair may not be covered.
💡 Think of it like a vehicle warranty: the manufacturer may provide the replacement part, but there can still be costs associated with diagnosing and installing it.
