Ideally, when we do an addition, we want it to be impossible to see where the original structure ends and the addition begins. There’s a lot of advanced carpentry that goes into this - we caught up with our construction manager Ken Page and he broke down a little bit of the process at this large project down in Orchard Park ✅

Super productive week in the books! Lots of work happened at our (near) future office in Downtown Buffalo, from the basement out to the freshly laid parking lot.

We made progress at an exterior deck project that you’ll see a lot more of soon wrapping up in East Aurora… some are calling them the sharpest miters of all time.

Demo is completed at our RootedSpace Wellness site in the Elmwood village, and our guys are getting into some odds and ends before drywall and finishing begins.

In Orchard Park - lots of windows were installed and final interior inspections are taking place before drywall and the finishing touches go in as well.

We removed a wall and added structural steel to turn two small rooms into an amazing dining and entertaining space complete with custom fabricated wainscoting. Designed and built in the 716, including Buffalo-manufactured wallpaper by Red Disk 🙌 Rooted Space Interiors

Before we seal it up with drywall, can we take just a minute to admire the artistry that is rough framing in an early 1900’s home?

New studs mixing in with the old, OG plaster and lathe ready to get combined seamlessly with new sheetrock, joists furred out to ensure it all sits flat. Fresh plumbing, electrical and HVAC to take the renovation into the next century without any issues.

Outside, we added a little brow on the side entryway roof. Going to look sharp when it gets shingled in the next two weeks.

We also peeled a few layers of siding off to get replaced later - check out the history underneath the outer portion.

Did you know you can send a printable check to your subcontractors within Buildertrend - and they don’t need to create an account to print and deposit it?

We’ve had tons of success using this method to not only ease our subs into using BT, but also to keep them happy by getting a check into their hands ASAP!

While it appears on the surface that we’re demolishing part of a late 1800s Elmwood Village home, we’re actually removing a 1950s (ish?) addition that wasn’t installed properly and had begun to fall off the back of the house. Excited to add to this beautiful structure soon with the help of our friends at Rooted Space Interiors 🤝
