There's a lot more to precision sheet metal fabrication than just bending metal.

Here's a look at a multi-bend forming operation on our CNC press brake at Full Curl Manufacturing.

What starts as a flat, laser-cut piece of sheet metal is transformed into a three-dimensional frame through a carefully planned sequence of bends.

The challenge? Every bend changes the geometry of the part, which means tooling clearance, bend order, and dimensional accuracy all have to be considered before the first bend is made.

It's part engineering, part craftsmanship, and a whole lot of knowing your equipment.

🔴 WHEN THE DETAILS ACTUALLY MATTER. 🔴

Sometimes the most important tool in the shop isn't the biggest, fastest, or most expensive. Sometimes it's the one that solves a very specific problem.

Today's addition to the FCM toolbox? An optical center punch. 🔍

We've got a customer project requiring multiple #10-32 tapped holes in 3/8" mild steel plates measuring 40" × 60". The catch? Hole location accuracy is critical.

Laser cutting holes this small in material this thick can introduce heat-affected material that creates problems during tapping. And our CNC mill doesn't have the travel to accommodate plates this large.

So what do we do? We develop a process that fits the job instead of trying to force the job to fit our equipment.

Our solution is to laser engrave precise crosshairs at each hole location, use an optical center punch to transfer those locations, and then drill and tap the holes conventionally.

No unnecessarily expensive equipment. No elaborate fixtures for the sake of looking impressive. Just a practical, repeatable manufacturing process designed to meet the customer's requirements.

Of course, the proof is in the inspection. We'll verify the finished hole locations against the drawing before calling the process a success.

Just in time for Halloween, the mad scientists at Full Curl Manufacturing have been experimenting with something truly sinister...

PRISMATIC POWDERS — VAMPIRE RED. 🦇

Deep. Glossy. Blood-red. The kind of finish that makes Dracula look at his coffin and think, "You know, that could really use a fresh coat."

🩸 The color? Vampire Red (PSS-5013).

🔥 The finish? 85+ gloss units of absolutely disrespectful shine.

⚡ The details? Precision laser engraving that removes the coating to reveal the aluminum underneath, because apparently just making things ridiculously shiny wasn't enough for us.

📸 The photos? REAL. Taken right here in our shop. With an actual camera. Of actual things we actually manufactured.

🤖 The marketing department? One overworked guy and an AI with absolutely no concept of restraint.

The Gibford Estates sign started with an idea on a brochure. At Full Curl Manufacturing, we brought it to life through a dimensioned CAD model, a full rendering, and custom fabrication—right through to the finished sign you see installed here.

Every custom sign starts before the first cut.

Turning a reference photo into metal artwork takes design time—laying out lettering, refining details, and creating a CAD file we can actually fabricate. For detailed projects, that work can account for 50% or more of the cost.

At Full Curl Manufacturing, here’s where pricing starts:

▪️ Artwork/CAD: $150 per hour, with a one-hour minimum.
▪️ Sign fabrication: Starting at $150 for a basic 24" × 18" sign in bare 11-gauge mild steel. Artwork/CAD is additional.
▪️ Minimum project total: $300.

Your final price depends on the design, size, material and thickness, finish, and hanging or mounting requirements. Installation and on-site work are not included.
