By the time you’re waking up to your morning coffee, we’re already up and out, preparing the ground in ways that you’ll probably never even see.

Site work means everything at surface level and below. First in, last out.

We coordinate with the GCs and other subs, all while laying the infrastructure and utilities within the ground, prepping it for the next phase of work. You might not always see us or the work we do, but trust us, it’s an essential part of the puzzle.

At a certain distance, the machines stop and the humans take over.

When Sherri started at Hudgins in 1999, her youngest daughter had just started first grade.

Some mornings, she’d come into the office with Sherri and crawl under her desk to color. Her retired dad would pick her up when school opened, take her to school, then bring her back to Hudgins for the last hour of the day.

Sherri still has the little notes she typed on the old typewriter in her office.

That little girl is now 33, with three children of her own. And Sherri has been at Hudgins through three children, six grandchildren, and countless other milestones. She even recently found photos from the bridal shower her Hudgins colleagues threw for her in the year she started.

When we talk about Hudgins offering a sense of belonging, this is what it can look like. 25 years of work, life and a whole lot of memories.

Hang out with us on a military base.

Here we’re widening the Taxiway Alpha at Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval station. It contains the largest concentration of U.S. Navy forces with 75 ships, 14 piers and 11 aircraft hangars at Chambers Field.

Being here, surrounded by military history, really highlights the importance of the work we’re trusted to do.
