Our May Safety Employee of the Month is Jeff Sanders. Jeff was working in the precast plant and smelled gas. It was about that time that he heard fire trucks in the area. He added those two things together in his head and went directly to plant management who discovered the leak. While management was working with the fire company, Jeff went to the shut off valve and shut the gas off. His actions prevented a bad situation from getting worse. Thank you Jeff for your quick thinking and composure under emergency circumstances.

Tom has been instrumental in assisting with a smooth transition with the Hanover Concrete acquisition last year. Tom jumps between plant maintenance, servicing customers, and assisting Steve and Elaine with numerous tasks. You will never find Tom standing still, he is always seeing the next tasks that needs to be completed and takes the initiative to complete it. He never lets the stress of the retail rushes get to him, he keeps a cool and friendly attitude with all customers no matter what is going on around him!

Our earthmoving crews have been hard at it this Spring completing the remaining mass grading over on Ridge Avenue in Hanover. Underground storm water utilities are also moving along nicely thanks to the help of our dedicated pipe crews. The site will soon be pad ready in preparation for our building teams to start their work!

Conewago is seeking a Portable Batch Plant Field Operator to join our team. This role operates a mobile concrete batching plant on job sites and ensures safe, efficient daily production.

Responsibilities:
• Operate and manage a mobile concrete batching plant
• Coordinate drivers and loader operators
• Batch concrete accurately to specification
• Maintain safety and quality standards
• Communicate with project managers and site personnel

Qualifications:
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Concrete batching/plant operations experience is a plus
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Willing to work overnight shifts and travel as needed
• Training available for the right candidate

While working out of town, Colton took the initiative to coordinate directly with the GC to develop an efficient working schedule that keeps all trades operating effectively within their designated areas. He has also proactively identified and communicated several safety and quality concerns to the onsite superintendent, helping to prevent potential issues and saving valuable time. Colton maintains consistent communication with the PM team to ensure everything is communicated so informed decisions can be made. Congratulations Colton!

A big thank you to the students and staff at Clearview Elementary for the thoughtful letters and handmade cards thanking us for supporting their Laps for Learning fundraiser! Seeing the creativity and appreciation from the students truly made our day.

Conewago is proud to support our local schools and the next generation in our community. Judging by the tool drawings, we might even have a few future builders in the making.

Safety employee of the month is Braylen Branham who was assigned to be an attendant for a permit required confined space. When approached by a senior manager to enter the space, Braylen refused to allow the manager to enter. He explained that entry was not allowed and asked the manager to leave the area because the attendant’s responsibilities were to the entrant in the confined space. Great job Braylen and thank you for taking your assignment and the safety of your team and site seriously.
