A bird’s-eye view of the Beaver Creek Stream & Wetland Restoration in Crofton, Anne Arundel County, MD. 🌿

The completed restoration project transformed approximately 1,300 linear feet of an unstable tributary to the Little Patuxent River, reconnecting the stream with its floodplain and creating a thriving stream-wetland ecosystem complex.

Work is nearing completion on an exciting shoreline improvement project at Downs Park along the Chesapeake Bay.

BayLand is proud to support Anne Arundel County in delivering a project that strengthens shoreline protection, creates the County’s newest and largest dog beach, establishes valuable tidal marsh habitat, and supports improved water quality.

The result brings together coastal resilience, environmental restoration, and expanded public recreation—creating lasting benefits for the shoreline, the community, and their four-legged companions.

Shoreline resilience and public access come together at Spriggs Farm Park on the Magothy River.

BayLand is proud to support Anne Arundel County on this innovative project, which combines living shoreline techniques, low-profile stone sills, and green riprap to protect the shoreline while enhancing tidal marsh habitat. The improvements also provide ADA-compliant access to a non-motorized water launch, allowing more visitors to experience and enjoy the waterfront.

This project demonstrates how resilient design can deliver lasting environmental and community benefits.

🏆 Award-Winning Project!

BayLand is proud to share that the Lake Marion Restoration was recognized with a 2026 Engineering News-Record MidAtlantic Best Projects Merit Award in the Small Project category.

Designed by BayLand and constructed by Pay Dirt, LLC, this project transformed a failing stormwater pond in Severn, Maryland, into a resilient, nature-based system that improves water quality, restores ecological function, enhances community access, and helps protect the Severn River watershed.

The Lake Marion Restoration demonstrates how collaboration, innovative engineering, and environmental restoration can create lasting benefits for both the community and the environment.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this project a success!

Project Owners: The Provinces, Severn Maryland (Provinces Civic Center) and Anne Arundel County Government

🌿 BayLand staff were out this week mapping extensive Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) at Fort Smallwood Park in Pasadena. BayLand is studying the impact our offshore breakwater design has on open-water habitat. This stretch of the Patapsco has never had documented SAV beds and is now home to three native species, including Redhead Grass (Potamogeton perfoliatus), Wild Celery (Vallisneria americana), and Horned Pondweed (Zannichellia palustris).

BayLand was proud to support Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary during the BrewGrass in the Barn event this past Saturday for the Friends of Jug Bay. The afternoon brought together the community in support of conservation, education, and protection of the natural resources that make places like Jug Bay so unique. Great music, local brews, and a shared appreciation for the Sanctuary made for a fun and memorable event.
