Our P A. Lander's, Inc. family has lost another dedicated, hardworking, long time employee, Jack "Black Jack" Periera. As a member of our team for 34 years, Black Jack worked as a skilled, invaluable aggregate driver and construction laborer. Always taking the underdog under his wing, his knowledge, loyalty, humor and infectious smile will be seen and lived on in fellow and future employees alike for years to come. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all of us here at P.A. Landers. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Our P.A. Landers, Inc. family suffered a heartbreaking loss this week. Our beloved friend and co-worker Peter Arena passed away unexpectedly and we are all heartbroken.

Pete was a project manager in our construction division and he joined our company at the beginning in 1980. For over 40 years, he has been a dedicated and loyal employee and friend. Pete was supportive of many of us inside and outside of work. He grew up in Rockland and raised his family there too. Peter always spoke so highly of his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, etc. and we always joked that he was the mayor of Rockland.

In his final days he told us "I want to get better so I can get in that black pickup truck, walk through that side door, and get back to work". Pete was a guy who absolutely loved his job. Okay, maybe he didn't like doing paperwork, but he loved everything else construction! We worked with him for many, many years and he was part of our family. We already miss him terribly.

Now Hiring! Our concrete division is searching for a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic. This job includes in-shop maintenance as well as emergency on-the-road repairs on a full fleet of concrete mixer trucks. This is a fast-paced working environment with plenty of hours available. This job requires your own tools, a drivers license, and a DOT Medical Card. A CDL would be a plus. General knowledge of trucks is necessary. Ability to push/pull/carry/lift objects up to 50 lbs. and the ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Uniforms provided. Join our team!

P.A. Landers, Inc. has been serving Eastern Massachusetts since 1978 offering a variety of services and products predominantly in aggregates, concrete redi mix, and construction.

As superintendent, you will manage specified heavy highway road projects, as well work with project teams including project managers, engineers, forepersons, field personnel, and other office departments to complete projects on time and on budget with the desired level of quality.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 10 years experience as a superintendent in public roadway and civil construction

- Preferred experience in working with Mass DOT, other state and government agencies, as well as cities and towns

- Proficient with iPad/tablet using Microsoft Office products, as well as email and other digital communications

- MA hoisting license required

- Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate

- Experience with HCSS Heavy Job is a plus

- OSHA 30 certification is a plus

- Construction supervisor license is a plus

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is a plus

Duties:

· Oversee day to day operations of specified job, and following proper reporting procedures

· Schedule & manage crews and subcontractors in assistance with the project manager

· Report daily production quantities

· Ability and experience to set line and grade, along with other surveying tasks

· Ability and experience to properly manage quality and cost controls

· Ability to labor or operate heavy equipment if required

· Follow by strict OSHA standards, to ensure safe working environment

· Work directly with the home office regarding paperwork submittals, change orders, materials back up, etc.

· Ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections occur to support the project schedule

· Responsible for site safety, ensuring the jobsite is safe for workers as well as manage compliance with established company safety policies

· Work with project teams to budget, forecast, and manage field personnel as well as management of labor, equipment, materials, tools, and other costs

· Understand, review, and manage project plans, specifications, and other project data

· Conduct on-site meetings with subcontractors and construction field personnel

· Management and supervision of work crews on-site including: mentor and train field personnel trainees, manage forepersons and their duties and ensure all have resources and information to perform their tasks effectively and efficiently, manage overall safety of the project and ensure all personnel have resources to perform their work safely

* Excellent driving skills. Must possess a valid class B commercial driver's license (CDL)
* One year of related experience preferred (willing to train the right candidate)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver material to customer in a safe and timely manner. Provide professional and friendly customer service to client. Communicate truck and job status to dispatch.
* Maintain load in transit to job. Inspect load during wash down and reports any problems.
* Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operation of truck.
* Ensure that safety, compliance, environmental and DOT requirements are followed at all times.
* Perform minor repairs as needed: maintenance of truck such as proper tire air pressure and fluid levels.
